I played their quick demo at E3 and once again totally hyped on the new version. One cool feature I can remember is a way to dynamically change your AI player's strategies using the thumbpads on the fly, like telling your wings to step back while your play center or bring the defense closer to you, or tell them to hang back, etc...
Basically you're able to communicate with the game AI without switchign players.

I'm defentially getting this one. Might wait for the 360 version but it seems like it'll not be at a cheaper price than the PS2 and other ones (According to EB ... I HATE EB).

Go Preds!!!
I'm all about joining a league this year, but I may wait for the 360 version.

Pffft. Calgary's not even a real team. Now the Penguins on the other hand....

Really, if you give a dime to these guys, you're an idiot. Look at the stands at baseball games....the fans have responded by not showing up, and now MLB is trying to court them back in various ways. Heh.

I hate to say this but I've been more impressed with what I've seen from EA's game so far. The problem is that EA will probably put some half-assed online features again.

EA's game is still not hockey...it's like hockey on crack or something...it just doesn't feel right...ever since NHL2000, it's just been ruined. Thank god NHL2k2 came out cuz I couldn't take EA's hockey game anymore.

EA NHL is to hockey what Blitz is to football. (and yes, I know about Hitz, and that's about what EA NHL aspires to be, apparently)
Lots of unrealistic speed and bone-crushing open ice hits that do not resemble reality in ANY FORM.
No real strategy, no understanding of the game, just 10 guys skating around bashing each other. Maybe that's what hockey represents to the casual know-nothing, but to fans of the sport, EA's NHL is a pathetic joke of the sport.
That's not to say that NHL2K couldn't use improvement, but they get more realistic every year, while EA gets more over the top and ridiculous.

Agreed, but this year's game looks and sounds promising. There was a feature on IGN with a few videos a few days ago. I'd look it up for you if I wasn't so damn lazy. ;)
On realism - I'm a big hockey fan, I've been playing the real thing all my life and I'm still in a league at 33, but I'm also a big fan of video games, and when realism gets in the way of the fun, fun should win.

Green, remember, when EA whispers promises into your ears - they're LIES! :)

Amen to that. As long as they don't get screwed over by bullshit calls the Cup will return to Calgary.

LOL! Talk about selling your point of view
They made it to the final last year (admittedly losing to Tampa, but watcha gonna do against the Lightning, theyre 80% Canadian (which is more than the Flames, ironically.))
I forget, did Pittsburgh even make the playoffs? No sarcasm, I just cant remember and Im far too lazy to check.

The Lightning are more than 80% Canadian - 4 players are American, all but one or two of the others are Canadian. I cheered for them over Calgary - Tampa's our goddamn National Team, haha!

Go Wild! I can't wait for the NHL to return. Xcel is a great arena, and I love to watch hockey there. The only hockey I got to see there this past year was to watch the World Series of Hockey (which was fun as I got to see it from the Owner's Suite).
On another note, I'm excited for NHL 2k6. Unfortunately, I only played 2k5 like 4 times. I didn't even think of the 360 version. That makes me set to get a 360 even more. I just hope they keep all the features of the regular Xbox version, and improve graphics for the 360. Seems like a couple previews I've read of the 360 version of Madden are saying it might be missing features and could be like Madden Lite (and even though I don't like Madden much, it'll unfortunately be the only way to go this year).
