Articles and columns in issue 2 include:

Julianne Greer: Editor's Note - What is a "fidgeter" to do in today's "hurry up and wait" society? One answer is mobile gaming. Julianne Greer introduces the second issue of The Escapist, Gaming on the Go.

Tom Chick: Waiting at the Other Side of Midnight - You don't need to choose just one. Tom Chick explores the differences between the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP, all while waiting for Midnight.

Justin Leeper: Why Portable is Paragon - Mobile gaming is already huge, and it's only getting bigger. Justin Leeper discusses the reasons why these games still speak to the hardcore gamer, while also appealing to the broader population.

Max Steele: The War at Hand - Mobile warrior Max Steele takes a brash and humorous look at the mobile battle just commencing. In a battle between innovation, familiarity, and convenience, which platform will remain supreme?

Allen Varney: The Escapist on Greg Gorden - Five years ago, the thought of getting an epic RPG into a mobile phone would have been met with laughter. Today, it's a reality. Allen Varney spotlights the work of Greg Gorden, designer of the Elder Scrolls: Travels series.

Hmm, guess I should have waited to post here. Hehe, I posted this at the bottom of the Escapist 1 thread. Go Me!

[Ha, the second issue is out. I'm all over Max Steele's article about the mobile gaming war. The DS will come out on top. Ha, I knew it! *biased because I have one and love it*

"Sony's stumble will clear the way for Nokia's N-Gage powered smartphones to be the #2 platform in handheld gaming." - Max Steele.

This is a rather lofty prediction, but I think he just may be right.]

I don't care who comes out on top, I just want to know how many freaking Big Mac's I'm going to have to eat to win a PSP.

Probably enough to make owning a mobile device pretty irrelevant.

Yeah Evil, if you're going to do that, you might as well start hunting for game pieces in Hardee's "Win a Rag on a Stick Sweepstakes."

Max has a few good points about the future, but I have a feeling it won't turn out quite like that. In the US, it will look like:
PSP on top with 2x the number sold to the DS
DS second
N-Gage third while people continue the theory that the picked-on kid should continue to be picked-on.

In Asia:
DS on top by what appears to be a new record
PSP second
N-Gage third because they already have a DS

In Europe:
N-Gage games (not the unit) on top
PSP second because, well, the US likes it
DS last because, well, Asia likes it

Probably because it's only the second issue. It just came out last week. I just read it online, looks great in Firefox.

Is that at random? Or is there some underlying pattern I'm missing?

Because it's issue 2?

I grabbed the PDF. I'm a sucker for PDFs, anyway. Note: they do an Extra on friday, which then gets added to the PDF.

I got a kick out of Max Steele saying american cars were better than japanese cars, because of america having more experience in the business.

Did anyone else feel the increasing need to kick Max Steele in the crotch as he persisted in referring to himself in the third person?

(Or should I start posting things like....

The Keck hated how Max Steele kept referring to himself in the third person.)

Same here. :\ I'm so full.

I'm actually pretty seriously considering one of those "GET A FREE PSP!!!!" banner offers that you see online all the time. EGM had a pretty damned informative article giving good tips on how to sign up for those and actually get the offer for free. A lot of time, but for a free PSP? Hell.

God, for a split second I read that as Jack Chic, writer of those horrible horrible tracks.

What's up with the website, is it supposed to be halfway off the page? I guess I have to read the PDF.

I liked Tom Chick's article, covered basically what I have decided about the PSP.

It's a portable Playstation, whoopty fucking do.

I play my GBA for maybe 5 minutes at a time alot, I barely ever sit down and play for hours.

I like getting in, playing, and getting out fast. If it saves my progress quickly and transparently so much the better.
