Not gonna watch it. Wouldn't be prudent at this juncture.
Seriously, Mass Effect is on total blackout for me right now. I don't want anything to spoil it for me.

still not too sure about this new conversation system, it seems like it removes some of the player control over the conversations. you are never exactly certain what your character is going to say.

wow that video was impressive, mainly because of how close to movie quality it is. Not so much graphically, but presentation. The way the camera switches angles, pans around, the emotions on the characters faces, and their subtle movements as they talk

From now on they should not tell us about games until maybe a month before release. Damn all the anticipation for this game is killing me!!
Oh.....November.....so close........yet sooo far away.:(

I'm on a news/video/screenshot blackout at this point with the game. I know I'm buying it when it comes out, I don't need to be teased and spoiled finding out what's going to happen. I want to experience this game without knowing where it's going to lead me. Half the fun is the journey.

Absolutely with you on this, I actually haven't looked at anything about this game since GDC. Honestly, what more did anyone need after that to want this game?
I'm trying to avoid things more and more these days when it comes to games I want. I get myself overhyped and also walk into the damn things knowing way too much and it's amazing how much joy that sucks out.
Why did I watch that, why why why. Why would they release something so spoilerific? They know that I can't resist any and all news of this game.
I'm not sure it's so spoilerific... This is probably one small mission of many, and this seems to be the first 5 minutes of the mission (nothing you wouldn't find out yourself). IIRC, the Krogan is an optional character in your party. This is just a side-quest.
.... so want this game.

I just read the prequel novel, wasnt too bad and gave background to the main story. If you want a media blackout how about you read that to get your fix instead?

The gameplay in this game just doesn't look right. I thought it was much faster paced. Looks clunky :(

I said the same thing in a previous thread about this game and got trolled.
Fact of the matter is, it is clunky. It lacks flow.
I love bioware more than anyone and they're my top choice of what company I would like to work at, but gods... they really, really need to work on ui game flow mechanics.

You should NOT have been trolled. You stated your opinion not a fact and no one has a right to that but you. It isn't clucky or lacking of flow...for someone out there and that is their opinion. State what you think man. Nothing wrong with that. Its when people get scared of hearing opinions that we should all get worried. Case in point Jaffe or Lair Developers ha.
Carry on.

That has long been my issue with the game -- the combat just lacks a certain "dynamic nature". Now, I'm not expecting Gears of War combat from a game that is primarily an RPG, but I do think this game would've been better served by a turn-based or KOTOR-type combat system rather than a more action-oriented real-time system.

I'm glad that their trying something new though. While it might be a little clunky at first, by the time Mass Effect 2 comes out it will be better. I'm content in saying that this trilogy, if it makes it to that, will be one of the best ever. It's better than them making a game that's been done before a thousand times. *cough* Halo *cough*
From what I heard, it will be like KotOR in the sense that you can pause when you want during combat. However, it will be better than KotOR because you will have more control over your characters. I always hated (in KotOR) how if your party was melee fighters they would run through a mine field to get to the bad guys and you had very little control over it. Everyone's dead, and I'm still trying to disable the first mine.

That gameplay video is showing off the skill screen, which you wont use like that. I am not sure why they are doing so much, but it will not "flow" like that in the game.

The combat seems much more flowing than other RPGs that I could play. While yes, it's not as fast or smooth as say an FPS or 3rd person game, I don't think it's supposed to be is it?

? That combat look pretty bad fucking ass to me. The only thing I see that could improve it is if when you make a battle selection for the other characters, it switches to their view. Other than that, WORD UP!!! I'm jacked.

As awesome as this game looks, and as desperate as I am to play it, I cannot in my right mind say that those conversations we've been shown are animated well. Lip-sync is horrible, and a lot of the expressions leave a lot to be desired. Looks to me like they've tried to use some sort of program to procedurally sync the lips to the audio, and it's done a horrible job. Either that, or they've got lazy animators.
And for the record, I am an animator, so I do know what I'm talking about.

You could be a one testicled clown and see that Mass Effect does indeed have some serious issues with the characters. I have a feeling that all the hype about the conversation system is going to be nothing more than picking an option that isn't EXACTLY what the character says...all the "interupting characters in the middle of a sentance and stuff" seems to be only specific to certian conversations. I will play it, love it, play it again and love it again. But I am more interested in Bioware's ability to put together good console games than I am any specific issue.
Oh and the game looks pretty damn good for as much as they are slamming into it.
