Xbox 360 Image and Information Leak.
Late Sunday night a forum user on Gamespot.com posted a few images of himself playing Halo 2 on a (test) Xbox 360 and spilled some beans on the console.
Check out Xbox Core (http://www.xboxcore.com/news/707.html) for the pictures and the story on this.
Looks real enough, and I'm sure units are out there and being tested, but who knows...could just be looking for attention. Gotta love the haircut though.

Its nothing but publicity really, people already know what the console looks like and most of the dashboard so hopefully they won't take it out on the father because his son inherited too many alcohol strands from that one night the old man forgot to wear protection.

Is that four different cords to attach the harddrive?Nope, the hard drive is internal on the 360 (as pictures have shown), whatever unit those cables are for was on that black dev kit that was leaked a couple days ago. Probably a unit with ports for emulation on it.
I feel sorry for the father if this isn’t viral marketing, it looked like they just moved in and already his kid has screwed up his career. Not that it's a bad thing that people can see Halo 2 running on the 360. Along BabyJesus’s line of thinking, if this is the kid’s livingroom, even if they just moved in, where’s the suit cases and the moving boxes? Gotta be a stunt.

I call fake. fIrst, teh writing iz jst tu stoopid tu beleive. Then, no parent would be dumb enough to do this. Prototypes are BIG secrets. I'm surprised one is outside of a secure lab. No engineer or manager would be dumb enough to let a kid test this, let alone let them do this and not say "DON'T talk about this to ANYONE."
If it's viral marketing, it's the most idiotic ploy I've ever seen.
More likely, it's a couple of dweebs who Photoshoped up some pics to looke like a shot of an XBOX 360 screen. (That controller he's hold looks suspiciously like a Dreamcast controller to me.)

Yeah, I love how people just KNOW it's a publicity stunt. Right, first ilovebees and the ant colony, and next, a retarded post on one site's forums.
Occam's Razor retards. Look it up. Does it surprise you actual human beings are actually working on this product? And that one actually might -- especially at this late stage (devs have kits, etc) -- take one home one night for some reason? And that his son would be dumb enough to take pics and make a post?
No, clearly it must be a brilliant marketing post, one so brilliant it promotes the product by knocking the power cord, calling the included (or accesible) arcade games "cheesy", and warning that the official network bridge might be the only one you can use. Nope, no other explanation!
If it's viral marketing, it's the most idiotic ploy I've ever seen.

Hell of a nice TV. If this is an MS marketing stunt, I guess they have abandoned the 'HD Era' line of promotion.

Anyways, I think it is most likely the real deal. I mean, MS is planning on releasing this thing around the world in 4 months. I would be more surprised if the 360 was not going through estensive testing.

I love when people manage to mispell retarded when referring to OTHER people.
You could've been using the slang phrase 'a retarted', but then you would've said, "Are you a retarted?" So I don't think that was the intention.
:D
Just imagine if it actually was 'retarted'? Then if we use the traditional short form of 'tard', it'd come out as 'tart', which could get VERY confusing.

Come on guys. Really now. There is a difference between "viral" marketing and a simple persuasive post in some message board.
The narrative here is that the kid comes off as PS2 fanboy who is won over by the "tons" of features the 360 has.
You think this was just some kind of accident? That an adult working on the 360 is just going to bring home a system and give his teenage video game freak open access to it? Who is taking pictures of the kid? Why does the house look like they just moved in? How do they already have Internet access but haven't even moved in any furniture yet? Why is the adult bringing home a 360 to work on if he is just moving in? What's he going to work on it with? Why would a preproduction model already include the emulation patches for Halo 2? Why would someone who works for Microsoft have such a crappy TV? Even for his kid? The adult clearly talked to his kid about it "i wasnt aloud to copy anything to the HD" don't you think he would also have given the child a stern "And don't go telling anyone about this either or you'll get daddy fired." And the dad works for Microsoft and yet his son is strictly a PS fan? Ok lets say his dad was testing Halo 2 on the 360. He works in Seattle and yet he has to make a trip down to mexico to get a 360?
Sure, you could come up with reasonable answers for any of the above questions. But all of them together? Its a bit of a stretch.

It's always been like that. From console boards trolling each other, to the Square fanboys trolling everyone. The religious flame wars that broke out on LUE, along with people whining about how they don't have women (though they may all have LJs now) then describing their bowel movements.
The special interest boards being isolationist to the point anyone new scared them into random flaming, then various game series' social boards would declare war on each other.
What's changed recently is my question :p

As far as the planted crowd in the pictures goes, it is completely real. I was lucky enough to get a ticket to the microsoft event and sat about 4 rows back from the stage. There was a group of about 70 young "adults" that sat behind the speakers and acted like hypemen. Anytime they talked about the latest and greatest feature of the 360, they would cheer, Oohh and Ahh.

Ah yes, the vs topics, made all the worse by the constant battle polls on the front page now. Very forum specific (Dragon Ball being the worst, at least back in my day), but also very annoying. Of note it annoys the hell out of most of the GameFAQs people as well, at least back then, they may have all packed and left like me by now though.

The harddrive for Xbox 360 is external and detachableNo it’s internal and removable. Here’s a picture (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/8112/Xbox-360-Exposed/) of one. It’s the thing that says “40GB” on the side.
Maybe you’ve got a different definition of internal, but what I mean is that it slides into the case. The Xbox in the kid's picture has one.

Doesn't slide into the case; it's a 2.5" HDD that connects right there. The entire 'piece' that the 40gb is marked on is the HDD. It's like a cell phone battery that locks into place on the back of the cell phone. If you consider that internal, then yes, it's internal. But otherwise it's on the outside of the X360.
I also don't get why everyone keeps calling the thing an internal harddrive. It's not.
The thing snaps onto the outside of the top, exactly like a battery. You hold down a little groove on the front and pull it out from the back.

Either way those 4 cables that Kagger was originally talking about aren't to the hard drive, and the hole they come out of isn't going to be on the retail units.
