Remember Activision's Chrysler 300 giveaway a while back? Remember? (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2875&highlight=true+crime)
The answer (http://truecrime.com/index2.html), as it turns out, is more banal than anyone in the forums would expect.
I enjoyed Luxoflux's Vigilante 8, great car combat.

So we can expect another lifeless simulation of the architecture of the city that's been done to death, with none of the character of a living populace that's so often missing in games, while equally appropriate and less played out areas like Chicago, Detroit, and Atlanta are passed over?

I can't believe anyone is surprised by this answer. I sorta took it as a given that it was going to be new york city. The first game just gave me a feeling that the designers had no imagination when it came to such things so how could they not pick new york?

Bigger question, with WTC Towers? or Without?

Yea, I was thinking about that myself.
Maybe you'd get to play in the rubbles a little.

they prolly won't put the towers in. i thought that it was just common courtesty/expected for anything in the future now. move on and leave the towers out, since they don't stand in real life anymore. i notice they're usually not in movies or anything.

I expeted Detroit. I think it has that gritty good cop/bad cop feel to it. Though I suspose New York does as well.. just a little sick of games set in New York.

I think Auto Assault is going for the authentic Detroit feel.

Old news. I've known about this for monthes. But i think it should take place somewhere like...Grand Junction, CO. Any of you ever heard of it? You could go bust some meth-labs, or catch some kids spray painting the street signs, or join them yourself! And if you really wanna cause some choas, you could go to a movie and be really laud and obnoxious!

Detroit would be boring.
It's a very ugly city, but at least the street layout is more intersting than LA or NY which are very grid happy.
I was really hoping they would have done somewhere cool, I kinda like Chicago, New Orleans would be nice as well.
Oakland County in Michigan would work as well, Pontiac for gangs and crackheads, crazy corperete shit in the rich areas and hicks as well.
Chicago would've been nice. It worked well for Batman Begins.
As for the Towers, why would they even consider putting them in? From what I can gather, True Crimes 2 is "modern day" or "near future". That means, it's post-9/11, so hence no towers.
The first game was nonsensical, and I don't expect anything any better this time around either.

I'm a little burned out on crime dramas set in the here and now in general. Every once in a while somebody branches out, like that Western coming out, "Gun" I think its called. I'd like to see something set in a near future environment, maybe something cyberpunk. Even far future could be interesting. Tell me I'm not the only pen and paper geek who would like a GTA-style game based on the Shadowrun tabletop rpg. Oh hell, just give me more Deus Ex and I'll shut up.

Boring? I guess you never got lost going home from a show at the Shelter or State Theater at midnight when construction is blocking all the entraces to 75.... :)

TC1 was pretty boring.
I have little interest in TC2 regardless of what city. The game was average at best an it is sad that it spawned a sequel. There are a lot of games that deserve a sequel way more than TC1

Yeah give up on the Towers people! When they erect a new structure, You think the new questions is gonna be <new structure> with or without? eesh get with the times peoplE!
As for the game, I was wonderin if it was worth a rental or a purchase. The only other game I have purchased that looks something similar would be N.A.R.C. ($20!), it looks simliar to the GTA series also. Gangbangin' Bitch work, go do this, off this guy, go do that. I'm weighing more toward a rental.
While crawlin around I found this;
