Another week, another Weekly Release. It's back to reality time for me, and that means catching up on all the gaming I missed on my honeymoon :) (oh yeah, and work). It's a light week for releases...

Tuesday
Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny (PC (http://www.gametab.com/pc/asherons.call.throne.of.destiny/4371/))

Wednesday
Colosseum: Road to Freedom (PS2 (http://www.gametab.com/ps2/colosseum.road.to.freedom/4352/))
Jackie Chan Adventures (PS2 (http://www.gametab.com/ps2/jackie.chan.adventures/4389/))
Nanostray (NDS (http://www.gametab.com/ds/nanostray/3183/))

DVD
Constantine (http://www.imdb.com/rg/CNW_REC//title/tt0360486)

Theater
The Island (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399201/)
Bad News Bears (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408524/)
The Devil's Reject (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0395584/)

What's the verdict on Constantine? Worth picking up on DVD?

Constantine was decent.
Maybe not a full price DVD buy, but certainly worth dropping in your NetFlix queue.

I thought Constantine was fun. I'll be renting the extended edition to see what's there.

Yes. Con is a good flick. Seeing "hell" is worth the price alone.

Yeesh, it is a light week, huh? No complaints here. I need some catch-up time. And I'll be heading to the theater for Bad News Bears. I know a lot of you probably think it looks dumb, but it's done by Richard Linklater, by far my favorite director ever.

Constantine has some neat visuals but overall just a rental.

... and staring at Rachel Weisz for 2 hours. :D

I'll be picking up the SE version from Best Buy tomorrow on my lunch. The only thing that bums me out a bit is quite petty... the cover art for the movie-only version is better (IMHO) than the SE cover art and that's just stupid. Also, the slipcase that's on the DVD is the same cover art as the actual DVD cover art. I think if people are going to make slipcovers, they should at least enhance the art if possible. See I, Robot and Ghost In The Shell: SE for examples of this.

Constantine was ok, if you can find it on sale, go ahead and buy it. it's at least worth a rental. make sure to watch all the way through the credits

I'll probably end up picking up Constantine. I liked it enough to know I'll probably want it in the background while I'm drawing or something. Fun atmosphere film, if anything.

I also plan on destroying every copy of the Bad News Bears that I can find. There are some movies that simply have no business being remade. While we're at it, why not re-do Young Frankenstein - I mean, the first one was so great, the world clearly needs to see Jim Carrey as the good Doctor in the blockbuster remake! Stupid Hollywood.

Was there something at the end of the credits in the theatrical release? I'm not sure I caught that, and I usually stay through all the movies I see in the theater for that exact reason.

Yes, there was a little something. A quick scene that makes you feel a little better about the fate of one of the characters.

I thought the same thing when I first heard about this remake, but after seeing the previews I gotta say I want to see it now. Billy Bob Thornton looks like he will do a pretty good job as the coach and the movie looks like it has that 'Bad Santa' feel to it.

I guess I'm glad I'm buying it tomorrow then! I'll be on the lookout. :)

I'm certain that Richard Linklater has done something worthwhile with it. Let's at least wait for a few reviews.

Heh. But you are waiting! Huzzah! I'll see it Friday and be sure to let youknow what I think. Otherwise, I think awaiting Ebert's review isn't a half-bad idea.

Ebert has lost his grip on reality.

I probably disagree, but really, what do I care as long as he mantains his grip on movies and his ability to write great reviews, which he has.
