View Full Version : Sakura Wars V tops the chart with the Nintendo DS dominating hardware sales.

This week's Japanese games chart sees Sega's Sakura Wars V go straight in at No.1, selling 112,000 units. Other new releases making an impression on the chart are We Love Katamari at No.3, and Musashi: Samurai Legend at No.4. Last week's new entry, Gentle Brain Exercises on Nintendo DS continues to sell well at No.2 in the chart.

I'd really like to see raw stats on of these days, just for my own curiosity. When I went hunting, the only place I could find that shows raw Japanese sales data I had to pay to subscribe to. I assume that's what all the big news sites use to get their information all the time. Anyone know of a straight-from-the-horses-mouth site for this?

Here is a link (http://ds.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=2317). Japanese sales numbers are usually very easy to find. Its harder to find the US numbers.

The Magic Box (http://www.the-magicbox.com/topten.htm) always shows straight up Japanese sales numbers. I have no idea how to find the U.S. numbers.

Musashi at number 4 causes me to seriously question what the hell is going on in Japan.

Xbox gets no love in Japan. However, I'm amazed that people still buy PS2s in Japan at those numbers. What's the ratio there? It's gotta be like 2:1, PS2 to people.

I guess they've got to get them for babies.

However crazy Nintendo's philosophies are over here....they sure nailed it with the DS in Japan, it's been almost a full month since it's been outselling the PS2 over there. Amazing.

They really need to release some Sakura Wars games over here. Maybe get Working Designs to port them over or something.

I wouldn't be surprised if they sold more PS2s in Japan than there are people...somehow...

I know some people working on this. ;) What would be great is if fans of the series get together and posted a Forum on FUNimation's site taking names. The biggest issue for bringing them in is trying to sell enough units to make the money back that it costs for Local/vocalization. Let the people at FUN know and it may happen.
