View Full Version : Catastrophe - Cat Helmet, not so Much

When we first laid eyes on the Halo 3 Legendary edition, in which the three-disc set come ensconced in a mini-Spartan helmet, there were two words which echoed through the ether - Cat Helmet. Well be prepared for a catastrophe - IGN brings word (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/822/822359p1.html) that the Helmet is fit for man nor beast. The issue is not the size of the helmet, which itself could (we reason) fit a human with a small head, like IGN's Nate Ahearn. The trouble is that the inside of the helmet is not hollow. The plastic is molded with a rectangular opening to fit the special stand which holds the Legendary Edition game tin.All of you waiting with baited breath for the cat helmet pictures for which to festoon with LoL cat macros will have to just suck it up and move on with your lives, as painful as it may be.

I'd think a scalpel and bone-saw might be more in order.
Cat-mods! :D
On a more serious note, does anyone know if the Legendary edition comes with the art book that the Limited edition has? Most descriptions I've read of what's included don't seem to mention it. I might be interested in trading my cat-helmet for an art book.

It comes with an expanded digital version of the art book on the 3rd disk from what I've read.

I've been telling you guys this for about a month...there were even videos on the net that I linked everyone too...yet people still acted like this thing was small enough for a cat... So I guess it takes IGN to get people to listen?

We've known the inside was a slot for the stand ever since the helmet was first shown. What I want to know is if cutting it apart will destroy the way it fits together, and force some creative glue work to reconstruct.

Major video game site posting an article versus some random guy on a message board? Yeah, that's usually about right.
Anyway, I'm sure this will still work. Just need to take a page out of the Bonsai Kitten (http://www.shorty.com/bonsaikitten/) book.

Yeah, I was disappointed by this a few months ago once it was announced it wasn't hollow. I believe my exact words were "What, no meowster Chief pics?" Ugh.

That is just wrong on so many levels. I could never do that to a poor little kitteh. :(

Yeah before we get on the banzai kitten thing, it is:
FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE
Every year or so there goes out a massive chain letter about how inhuman and what kitten killers that site is, but its just a funny joke.

I thought this was common knowledge.

I just so happen to have a cat with a thin, rectangular, head.

It might not be kitty-sized, but it's still kitten-size!
Get 'em while they're young!

I think his point wasn't so much that people didn't believe you, but more that they just didn't care what you had to say. I could be wrong though.

If microsoft sees your cat wearing the helmet, then its account will be banned for 9 thousand years.

If you're willing to spend that much extra scratch for the damn thing, do you really have a right to complain?

I'm still expecting to see a Cat (or kitten) with one of these hollowed out helmets on within the week.

I expect that Ben Heckendorn will not only make a modded helmet that fits a cat, but also has a backlit visor and a filter to make the cat's meowing sound like the Halo theme song.
Please Ben, don't let me down. :D

This is the internet stupid. People have a right to complain about anything. No matter if they actually will, want to, or can buy something: Just look at all of the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray threads.

It'll still make a great novelty condom.
I'll be picking mine up later today, we'll see how modifiable it is. I've got two cats, and some clever friends...I've been wanting to make some cat-sized MYOLNIR armor anyway.
