When Harmonix's 'Rock Band' was announced to have a wired X360 controller with its bundle, claiming (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/08/harmonix-ceo-confirms-rock-bands-xbox-360-bundle-guitar-is-wire/) extra proprietary wireless licensing fees from Microsoft, we were a bit concerned that Red Octane's GH3 would have the same limitation - or would cost more to pass the cost onto the consumers.
According to Joystiq, this is not so (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/red-octane-confirms-gh-iii-xbox-wireless-guitar-same-price-as-ps/):Red Octane went on to say, "All platforms will be bundling wireless guitars and the prices for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are set at $99.99 while the Wii and PS2 versions are $89.99."Too bad I like the design of the Rock Band guitar so much more...

I'm torn as to which pack to get. I have a GHII guitar and want one more, plus both games. The Rock Band guitar looks much better, but is way more expensive. The Rock Band collection is a bit pricey for my tastes (and I'm not as interested in the drums and mic), but there is no pack for just the Rock Band game and guitar. I really am not sure which to get yet. 160 for both games and GH guitar? 200 for both games and RB guitar? Or 260 for both games and the RB pack? The fact that this GH pack is a good deal doesn't help. The more money I save on this, the more good games I can get this season.
Decisions, decisions.....

Actually the price did get knocked up $10 dollars as the 360 bundle for Guitar Hero II was $90. I'm guessing they priced the PS3 bundle the same as the 360 because, well, they could.

Already have a GH2 guitar so not sure if I really want another one... but if the battery life on these are good I might pick one up so me and my brother can play together.

This takes me back, way back to when I posted this exact information in the thread about the Rock Band wired guitar annoucnement.

Joystiq seems not to understand that "same price" isn't good if it's the same higher price. Red Octane is charging an extra $10 for both the 360 and PS3 versions; I am sure PS3 owners are feeling great that they have the privilege of paying an extra $10 just so the 360 fanboys dont get upset about MS licensing costs.

If the 360 and PS3 version is $99, what's the Wii version going to cost?

There you go. :)
This possibly indicates the extra $10 is the "next-gen" price increase for the 360 and PS3 games. Where you have $60 for new on them, and the more reasonably priced $50 for Wii and PS2.

That would be the "Next-Gen Tax".

Where have you been for the last 2 years? $59.99 standard costs for X360/PS3 games while the standard for PS2/Wii games remain at $49.99? Ring a bell at all?
