Sony's camera-meets-card battle game now has a release date and a price (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3163072). Come October 23, $70 will buy you:the Blu-ray disc, PlayStation Eye camera, Judgment (camera) stand, battle mat, a 30-card Starter deck (plus four Function cards), and an eight-card Booster pack. You will also be able to buy booster packs and theme decks from Wizards of the Coast for $3.75 and $15, respectively.
I almost titled this 'Eye of Jugment' by accident. I think they show that on Cinemax

Wouldn't it be insanely easy to cheat at this game with a good color printer? It's not like your opponent can check your cards like a normal CCG.

5. Online cheating
The most popular question we’ve heard revolves around online cheating. Mainly, “What’s going to prevent players from ‘stacking the deck’ when playing online?” – meaning, cheating your card draw so you get your best cards from the start. Fortunately, THE EYE OF JUDGMENT introduces a new paradigm in drawing cards when playing against your opponents online. First, you’ll have to register and save your Summoning Deck, offline. Then, when logged on, you select the Summoning Deck you wish to play. Once paired up with your opponent, the PS3 will automatically shuffle and randomly pull your cards for you. Once these cards are selected, you must pull these cards from your ‘physical’ deck and draw them to your hand and play the Summoning Cards on the Battle Mat, as normal.
Not really into this game, or card games in general, but I think it's a bloody good price for everything they include.
edit: Of course they'll be depending on the success of the trading card game itself, they'll probably get a slice of the pie from the actual cards being sold from Wizards of the Coast.

That didn't apply to what he was talking about. What he was talking about was printing out copies of the cards, so you don't have to buy them, and can have whatever cards you want without resorting to eBay.

Wow thats a great price for whats included. I imagine they plan to make the majority of their dough off of the booster packs.
Never was really a fan of the nerd poker myself, but I can imagine this being awesome news for alot of people out there.

I'd think there's some sort of barcode or signature that's very hard to reprint with regular printers. Though I haven't been following this game, so I have no idea.

So proxies? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_Card)

Going back to the in-house info about the game - the cards are supposed to be watermarked and that's supposed to be readable from the eye. At least at PAX, that's what the guy told us. The game was a blast to play, and I'm really looking forward to playing it over the net against some friends.

Who cares of folks want to print proxies? Well... I mean who cares except for Sony and Wizards of course. ;) You'd still need at least one of whatever card you were going to use, and that would only work if you were playing online. I know myself and my friends who are interested won't be doing it, but I really wouldn't care if someone wanted to. I'm interested in if the game is good. Not if I can be l33t by spending hundreds of $$$ for rares.

Nifty game idea, but I'll see how it plays out after everyone has figured out how to cheat the system before buying. Hell, I still need a PS3 as it is.

This is one of the few games I'm interested in and one of the few titles that is very unique to only the PS3. I'm not a fan of buying more cards though. Would have been nice to have them all with you when you bought the game like Phantasy Star Online 3.

Last day of PAX, doors closed, mostly everyone's gone. It's me and Sl1pstream sitting inside the Sega Cafe, or whatever it was called, and I glance on the floor as I'm sitting down and there, crumpled on the floor, is an Eye Of Judgment card.

A cool game and next-gen eyetoy for $70? Yes, please.

I'm in, for that price.
I was in for the rumored $60 price, and was prepared to spend as much as $80 on it, since I kind of expected the rumored price to be bogus. $70 is a nice surprise.

I believe the cards all have a watermark to prevent that.

I believe the cards all have a watermark to prevent that.If the watermark is too faint to show up in a scan, how would it show up on the camera?

I love card games, love video games, and love getting lots of stuff for $70, so I am all over this.

I wonder why they went with 'judgment' versus the more popular spelling 'judgement'?

Sorry. This won't work with my home theater setup. I use a projector and keep all the consoles in a closet, far away from any playing area (wireless controllers FTW!). The reliance on a USB cable means setting up the Eyetoy is going to be a pain, I don't have a table in the room to play cards on, and the light from the projector messes up any of the games where you have to put the eyetoy on your screen pointing towards the player.
I want to give these a shot, but not at the hassle. I've built a kick-ass home theater and gaming setup that totally rocks, except when it comes to using cameras like the eyetoy and the live vision cam.

I am amazingly OK with not having this game. Very, very niche.

This is seriously making me consider getting a PS3 for. It's totally the only thing I want for the system this holiday season.
I've become everything I've hated! :(
