gamesradar.com (http://gamesradar.msn.co.uk/news/default.asp?pagetypeid=2&articleid=36516&subsectionid=1591) says Sony may be considering another version of the PSP.

The special edition of the handheld appeared on a list recently circulated among Japanese retailers, hinting that Sony may be announcing the device in the near future.

Of course, this isn't the first time that a different version of PSP has surfaced, with a silver edition having already been seen at LA games show, E3, in 2004, along with a blue machine and a white Gran Turismo branded edition.
But the black is so classy!!!

How about instead of a Special Edition we get an edition that costs LESS then a new system?

A real special edition would just a PSP, without all the crap.

Do we really need a 10 foot long headphone cord?

LOL
Amen! Now you know why I do not own one. I'm not shelling out extra money for worthless crap.

If by "special edition" they mean "especially cheap", I'm all for it...

Say, is Sony going to spend anytime fixing the PSPs problems? What's that? No? They're just changing the colour of the body? Yeah that's better than battery life.

I want a PSP very badly and I want the price to drop. But a cool variation of colors is the reward for waiting to buy one.

The thing gets plenty of battery life. I don't know if you actually have a PSP or are just talking out of your ass, but I have one and the battery lasts FAR longer than the pre-release chatter BS suggested. And that's even when playing emulated games with the CPU clocked up to 333 MHz.

As soon as they can get the battery life on a PSP to compete with the battery life of the DS Sony can brag all they want. Until then, I don't want to hear about any new damn colors or anything. Work on important things! Improve the battery life or CUT THE DAMN COST! I wasn't the retard that approved a handheld using a disc based medium(an idea I personally believe is about as smart as the Virtual Boy).

I own one and the battery life is very disappointing, however I make do.

I have no problems with the PSP's battery life. There were some crazy pre-release rumors about the PSP, that all proved to be unfounded. However, for some reason, people still stick by those rumors.

I had a psp and it went maybe two or three hours without plug in, where as my new ds pretty much amazes me every time. I can play polaris for hours expecting to see that red 'charge light' and not see it. with the dual screens I expected it to run out faster and it doesn't, not by a long shot.

Funny enough, I only have to charge my PSP once a week, and I use it a lot more then I would a DS, since I use it for games, as an MP3 player, to watch movies while at lunch during work, to read txt files, etc. For me, the battery life of the PSP is fine.

I recently imported a Japanese PSP, and am pretty happy with it. No dead pixels at least.

But the battery life is very depressing, not to mention the absolutely horrible loading times! I bought Mercury along with the PSP and let me tell you, it absolutely sucks to wait through a minute of loading to start the game, followed by roughly 15 secs. of loading for each level.

Well, at least it doesn't reload the levels when you retry them like some other awfully programmed games I could mention. But it's still disappointing. But the PSP is still pretty damn sexy as a gadget...

My thoughts exactly. Sexy, loading times suck, but since it's portable I'm much more forgiving. I work third shift at a worthless job, and the PSP has been saving my sanity.

Anything to stop the downward spiral of the PSP in Japan. Sony has no choice either lower the price and lose more on the system or do this and spike sales for a while.
