Oh no, Monday again. I almost forgot that I'm supposed to have the blues and write up the topic. What did you plan to play and what did you guys actually play this weekend? Was it worth your while? Any memorable experiences?
Tell us please!
I planned to play Bioshock and actually finish the damn thing, but instead I ended up grinding my ass off with Disgaea 2 this weekend. God that game can be like work and fun at the same time

Bioshock until 4am on Friday night and 5am on Saturday night. This really messed up my work schedule. I refuse to play that game with any daylight outside.

Bit of a shame, I wanted to work on my first runthrough of Persona 3.

Jeesh...you and me both. Some of those damn missions pissed me off though (or I just suck)...having to restart some over and over :( Still enjoying myself though.
Also played some more Bioshock. I agree with the other guy, hard to play when there is daylight outside.
Also, a little more Enemy Territory. Trying to decide if I like it or not.
Played a bunch of Vanguard: Saga of heroes, and then i got into the CoD4 beta, which is awesome, so that took alot of my time. And as of now i'm playing the "Oh-crap-i-need-cash-for-a-new-computer" game, since my old desktop computer decided to stop working :(

Planned: A lot of Jeanne d'Arc and Warhawk
Played: I played a little bit of Jeanne d'Arc and a little Warhawk, but not as much as I had planned. For some reason I busted out Mega Man X of all games and played that for a bit on Saturday, though I have no idea why.
But most of my gameing time was spent with Etrian Odyssey. I am having a total love/hate relationship with that game. I love the old school style of it, the game looks great, the menus are all easy to navigate, and generally it scratches my dungeon crawling itch. I hate the fact that money is incredibly scarce to the point that it's a real problem, coupled with the fact that most common things (reviving allies and staying at the Inn in particular) are very expensive for what they are. Also, the FOEs are overpowered to the point of being ridiculous. It's not fun having each of your party members one shotted one by one by an enemy walking around an area full of mobs that are challenging, but not too bad. And, like a masochist, I can tell I'll be playing EO for quite a while.

I just finished Stalker. What an amazing game. It had the best atmosphere of any game i've ever played. It had a few bugs and some not so great things about it. Namely the backtracking and the endings. But seriously the sound, firefights, gunplay, and overall creepiness were spectacular. I can't wait for Clear Sky.

I played through some Bioshock...but like I told some of the guys online last night...I just cannot keep going. It is too boring to me. I played on hard and saved the little sisters I came across, but as I kept playing I felt like I was forcing myself to play through just to beat it. It seems the basic gameplay element of the game is to kill enemies by using all the different items you've collected along the way, along with the environment. But it became too redundant. But it has great graphics and great story...only not enough to keep me playing.
Other than that, I played a ton of the CoD4 beta. Myself along with my lil' bro, Sean Blue, are an amazing team. We are like our own squad. It's awesome.
I also did some heavy Company of Heroes LANing with some cool custom maps. That games never gets old, and even recovering from surgery, I'll still sit in my computer chair to play it...even though it hurts.

Bought Puzzle Figher for my girlfriend, played some of that. If you ever see Kelegacy online playing Bejeweled or Puzzle Fighter, it's probably not me. You've been warned. :)
Myself: some Virtua Tennis 3, Just Cause, Amped 3 and scouring Crackdown for the last 20-odd agility orbs.
But basically just shivering with anticipation for Eternal Sonata and my copy of Blue Dragon that still hasn't come to me from some slow-ass ebayer that I want to throttle and maim.

The thing with e.odyssey is you make a party of chip, chop, chup and give them all the chop skill. On the first level, you can use the cutthrough and rack up the items. You repeat this a few times and money is no longer an issue.
Later in the game, the foe's and money no longer are as much of a problem (where you feel like you could suddenly get wiped out and lose all your progress) and you get spells that limit the excessive healing fees.
Spent some time playing jeanne d'arc when not watching football.

MOH:Airbourne. Im on the last level and want to finish it up so I can play Bioshock next!
Didn't get much gaming in. Did a little WoW with the EA guild, and then did some Halo 2 as well. Having to get up early for work seriously infringes on the time I can dedicate to gaming every day. But I need money for Rock Band...

I read them. Like the "What are you playing this weekend" thread. It gives me ideas about games I may not be giving enough "love" to.
Before reading these threads, I had no idea about this Jeanne D'Arc game (or however you spell that). I also see that the EvAv WoW group is sadly undermanned and I also see a bunch of guys playing NHL 08, which will be great when Best Buy finally decides to deliver it!

Wait, you saw a WT concert? Where do you live? I thought they never come stateside, they only play in Europe, and for some reason, Mexico.
I worked all weekend and wrote a paper on Christianity's role in the fall of the Roman Empire. Oh boy!
NHL 2008, MoH:Airborne and Lord of the Rings Online. Also tried out the Fury beta ( can't help but read this as "Furry", ewww) and it was meh.
Cannot get over how much the AI steps up in NHL 2008. If you think you can run up the crease and have a shoot off fest, this game will promptly kick your butt. MoH is ok, but after doing the Normandy invasion yet again (Now behind enemy lines!) I'm struggling to finish it. Guess I need to go back to Bioshock and finish that up instead.

I so wanted a night of Bioshock to finish. It was not to be.
Played a smidgeon of CoD Beta and played Madden Saturday night. Beating your brother-in-law 3X is sometimes a necessary evil, if only to learn him a thing or two.
I only hope it doesn't haunt me later, 'cause those are football devils they are.
Then the gaming gods tricked me into Hexic 2. While fun in multi, it's mostly rehash, and I liked the graphic better in the first. Still it is another one of those 4 AM time wasting drivels that I am hopelessly addicted to.
Why?

Just to be curious, what didn't you like about Resistance?
I guess I just thought it was more than what it was. Granted I haven't read any reviews or really payed any attention to it at all. I just heard it was the game to play online for the PS3. I guess I was just expecting that looked on par with Gears or Shadowrun, but Resistance looked pretty bland in comparison.
It was weird playing a FPS with no one talking (I am used to Shadowrun and the like now). I played mostly team deathmatch and it didn't really feel like a team at all.
I couldn't find a server that had anything but 200% weapon damage and one hit kills on. It really sucked being hit by a stray machine gun bullet and dying.
The weapons seemed pretty generic to me. They all kind of felt the same sans the shotgun and pulse cannon type thing.
Honestly I was hoping this would push me into getting a PS3 but I just can't see buying one now. If there is something I should be playing on it that I'm not let me know. I would love to try a demo of Warhawk or Tekken because I think those would really get me to buy one of the damn things. No demo on either of them tho, and that really pissed me off. I ended up paying the $5 for MK2 and playing that most of the weekend. At least I can play MK2 at work now.
EDIT: The Playstation store is balls too. There should be demos for every game on it.

I finished Bioshock and sold it back with a bunch of other crap. I got the rescue ending, and I thought it was great. I thought that the last section of the game was really fucking bad, and I was appalled by the collection quests. The major plot point fell flat with me as well. Definitely a great game over all, but I felt there were some definite missteps that hampered the experience as a whole.
I picked up Skate and played it all weekend. That game will probably be in my top 3 for the year.

I spent the weekend getting over my stupid cold and going to the local fall fair with the family.
That said, I did get some gaming in. Picked up Jam Sessions on Friday evening. Very... unique. I'll do a write-up for it soon.
I did get some solid play time in on Blue Dragon, Metroid Prime 3 and Phoenix Wright 3 though. That was nice. I finally beat the stupid war golem on Metroid Prime 3 and that made my weekend. Everything else was just cake on the icing. I didn't (and don't) want to make too much progress on Blue Dragon if only because I know it'll go up on the shelf once my copy of Eternal Sonata arrives and I want to try to leave the game in a spot where I will know what to do and where to go and what is going on. That's the problem with FFXII... It always takes me a bit of time to remember what the hell I was doing whenever I come back to it.

It is a very tough game at the beginning. Heck, it never really lets you off easy, ever, though your party at least gets the skills to keep themselves alive through the tough fights later on. Whatever you do, don't try to kill the big bug monsters on the 3-4th floor. Just flee and run away from them right now. Trust me. You have to be a lot stronger than you likely are in order to beat them.
You'll learn to love the flee command.
