While alot of emphasis of the San Diego ComicCon is placed on well....comics, I thought I'd be nice to show off what's going down right now at the Con in terms of plastic collectibles.

Figures.com has boatloads of pics depicting all sorts of crazy crap for the rapid collector. Here's a couple of the most interesting so far:

King Kong (http://photos.figures.com/photo/1/showgallery.php?cat=3007)
Napoleon Dynamite (http://photos.figures.com/photo/1/showgallery.php?cat=2968)
Corpse Bride (http://photos.figures.com/photo/1/showgallery.php?cat=2967)
Resident Evil 4 (http://photos.figures.com/photo/1/showgallery.php?cat=2947)
Kill Bill Vol. 2 (http://photos.figures.com/photo/1/showgallery.php?cat=2949)

Remember, if you want to get a job as a comic artist or game designer, having a desk full of figures and junk is almost a pre-requisite :p

I was actually thinking of posting some of the Comic Con news. But I think I'll wait till this weekend and submit it as a big wrap-up with a bunch of the news from it.

My desk is full of all kinds of junk... The Maxx and an Iz... the Eva-02 (good version, not the crappy Sega figure), three female jedi, a moogle plushy, and a boat load of legos. Plus the most recent addition, an Acrobot :p

Woot for my fellow Eva-02 fan :)

Am I just not very familiar with this kind of thing, or were those Napoleon Dynamite figures amazing? They looked so realistic to me, I couldn't believe it. Again, I may just not know what I'm talking about, so that's why I thought I'd ask. Anyway, I love Napoleon Dynamite. Went to BYU where the guys who made it went. I've seen a couple other movies they've made, and they're also hilarious.

Sweet, The Maxx and an Iz (white not black :( ) currently guard my router.

Not really a big fan of Napoleon Dynamite, and can't say I know much about collectible figures, but those were pretty neat. All of the little detail, kinda lifelike in a way.

Ahh, I got a white Iz too. Those are actually more rare than the black figures! Now what I really need to get, is one of those uber-rare "Bag'o'Iz"... They were some kind of exclusive thing. Just a big bag of white and black Iz bendies :p

Am i the only one thinking Napoleon Dynamite was the most overrated piece of crap movie ever made? Now ill admit the action figures look good, but cmon McFarlane Toys can really do no wrong (besides the Edward Sciscorhands face sculpt for the 6 inch figure). Does a movie like Napoleon Dynamite REALLY deserve action figures? There are abunch of lines McFarlane can do instead that arent as aggrivating or boiling of the nerves each time i see it. I much rather see Anchorman action figures with sound chips (a Ron Burgundy with Baxter and scotch? What's not to love!?). Also Fight Club or Pulp Fiction and anyone that says that Fight Club action figures demean the whole meaning of the book and the movie, look at the video game. Anyone who's read or seen Fight Club knows its beyond just abunch of sweaty men fighting. Also when i see in the school hallway some kid wearing a Tyler Durden for 04 shirt than the message has long been lost.
Also sorry for turning this into a bitch fest by me, i just hate Napoleon Dynamite...alot.

Well, I'm not exactly with you, but I will admit this: I didn't think it was as great as it was hyped up to be. Still, pretty funny and all, but not the savior of comedy that all my friends wanted me to think.

I think there are two types of people who enjoyed Napoleon Dynamite: those that actually got it, and those that only liked it to look "hip." I saw it in theatres, well before it was released on DVD, and everyone went nuts about it.

I think for the most part alot of people liked it to look hip, because when me and my friend went to see it in the theaters all we saw were preppie high school teens watching it and laughing out loud. So easy for them and their circle of friends to say its the greatest and get on the bandwagon. But ill be honest in saying yah there were some good scenes (Ken Kwan Dou comes to mind along with the farmer killing the cow), but the fact that every person i hate is quoting it and saying its the greatest movie ever really makes you dislike it. Not to mention the endless merchindising (a t-shirt for nearly every line only works for Ash).

Dynamite was like Rushmore for stupid people.

ND was meant to be a light-hearted sincere look at "geeks" and "nerds" but wound up being loved by preppers who watched just to make fun of the characters.

Also, lots of ignorant anti-semites and blowhards adore Cartman on South Park even though his character is a direct parody of them.

I just don't understand people sometimes.

Apparently Ada's breasts produce their own light. That might've been a pretty handy ability in the game.

You don't understand how morons don't catch on to us making fun of them?
