With TGS this week, Gamevideos has gotten a hold of two clips from the recently announced Ninja Gaiden 2 for the Xbox 360.
Both clips show off the brutality of the title with several severed limbs, heads and bodies. Unfortunately other than that it really doesn't look leaps and bounds better than the original title. Even watching the videos caused my controller to break!
Both videos after the break.

Very smooth gameplay. If its anything like their previous effort, it will surely rock.

Holy Shit. I think I just filled the cup.
Yeah, those graphics aren't really that impressive. Hopefully it's still a long way off.

I said that before and people call me troll.
The framerate is very smooth, 60fps perhaps but graphics just not very...impressive IMO. The graphic engine feel very much like the one use in DOA4 & DOAX2.

Anyone know which marketplace video has the Live Arcade stuff? I want to see Rez and Ikaruga.

Well we know that the game won't be out until mid 2008 so they definitely have some time. We also know that a lot of developers don't add the graphical polish until the last few months before it goes gold so I think we can expect a little better. The only thing I can see needing to be done is to clean up the lighting and add a little depth to some of the textures, they do that and I will be happy, oh and the water needs some serious work, that looked pretty bad.
As far as the frame rate, animation and game play goes it looks flawless in my book, can't wait to play this.

They gonna up the difficulty this time around or what? Especially on levels where you have to fight a boss on a horse.
I kid, I kid. That guy owned me but I stuck it out and eventually owned him back. Good times. :)

Looks pretty sweet, true to the first game. Barring any surprises, I think these two videos and any experience with the first Ninja Gaiden should give a 90% accurate idea of what to expect.

That is hot shit! Did you see that bit where he took out one of those dragon thing's legs and then ran it through with the other claw? Awesome. Those ninja are tough though, he took a leg off one at the start and the fucker starts to get up on his claws to keep fighting, that's nuts!
I don't care about it's graphical capablilities. Ensuring smooth gameplay is top priority and for good reason.
Hell I'm gonna play NG:Black (again) tomorrow.

Looks like it will be kinda like DOA4, in that it may not look leaps and bounds ahead of the last game, but the game play will still be good... of course that wouldn't stop my blood pressure from getting to heart attack levels, so I'll just pass on this for my healths sake.

I really don't get all the graphics comments...
I just got through Ninja Gaiden Sigma in 1080p a couple weeks ago and this still looks noticably better to me.
Combined with the fact that Sigma does not look bad at all, and I really don't think only a small graphical improvement is something to be dissapointed with.
Holy crap is this game brutal though... I hope they don't censor the Asian version again (you could only decapitate beasts in Sigma, not humans), but the PAL version is no doubt going to be all kinds of toned down.

I'm glad they're minimizing menu time in this one. That was the only real gripe I had about the original NG.

Well, as a comparison, Heavenly Sword looks much better....and lets face it, that is the game it will be compared to for now. Oh, and it does look like a slight graphical upgrade from NGon the XB
As far as playability goes, I haven't played either yet...but it looked liked it would top NG. Definitely a buy.

This game has a kick ass ninja. Nothing compares to that. Heavenly Sword may look good, but it's short and far from Ninja Gaiden quality in terms of gameplay.

I agree heavenly sword is better in graphics and some aspects of game play, but if you compare the combat system you're seriously gonna get the stupid hammer

Graphically not that impressive. Ryu looks Sigma good (which is great) but the environments look meh. As with Sigma the environments look like a high resolution Xbox game, not "next-gen" engine quality. Sigma has 60fps, this is hardly a new and/or marketable feature. Of course these videos aren't showcasing the final build so you never know. Right now it feels like Halo 3 to me though. And again, if the game is a joy to play it really doesn't matter. I just sort of expected more from the "world's best hardware".
The body mutilation is nice though. I don't crave the blood and gore but what else does one expect to happen when you slice & dice. :P

QFT, DITTO, I CONCUR, etc . . . How else can I say this? I AGREE!
Having read similar comments ad nauseam on various blog sites, I'm quite relieved to hear another soul articulate what I've been thinking. I mean, what's with all the "meh" comments re: the graphics?
When Sigma screenshots and videos 1st came out, the buzz was like "Oooh that's the hot ish!" and "OMG, it's sooo uber-sexy" and of course my favorite "Only possible on the PS3 because of power of teh cell!!!" Never mind that it was being compared to a 3 year old game on a previous generation platform! Now people seem to be expecting the same technological leap they saw between Black and Sigma even though it's being made on a supposedly "weaker platform" and Sigma is but a few months old.
IMO, the content they've released thus far that shows NG2 will, at the very least, be graphically on par with Sigma and could ultimately be significantly better, since it could be as much as year until it's released!
/end rant
I for one am just glad that it's "very far along in development" :D

I think I'm gonna see if I can find myself a copy of Black tomorrow, I need to start training for NG2. Has anyone played NG Black on the 360 recently? How does it look, have they fixed the glitches?

Except here in Holland, cause we eat raw baby's for breakfast. :P
In don't get the graphics comments either. True, it's not the most beautiful game ever. But look at the blinding speed for godsake. Also the levels are styled that way because you need to play the game like a pro. not get stuck in a wall or behind a tree.
And the dragons and creatures at the end looked incredible, as did all the limb tearing.
Also don't forget it's a Japanese game. They actually don't give a crap about insane graphics.

It was great when I played it about a month ago. My original Xbox's DVD drive finally crapped out and no longer plays anything smoothly (so now it's a media center streaming from my computer + emulator).
Black on the 360 played flawlessly and I rushed an 8 hour completion of normal mode because I couldn't stand not having the basic unlockables anymore. I'm gonna move on to the mission mode next and try to get back to the place I was at (around 40ish missions completed) on my original xbox.

Mmm Ninja Gaiden is the best fighting/action game to date.
Heavenly Sword is pretty but it's far inferior to NG Black/Sigma.
Ninja Gaiden 2 will be the only title which can take the crown.
It looks awesome can't wait.
If the germans complain about gore then don't nerf the version for us europeans because of them. Take a stance like on Gears please.

Yep. It's funny that a country next to ours could be so different in it's handling of this kind of content. I could ride my car there in 2 hours and not be able to buy Gears in stores (but could find the raunchiest porn ever:P)

Nice gameplay. Graphics aren't as shit-hot as NG was back on the Xbox. Environments still very static and not very interactive. Feel like they should really add more to the combat, maybe a secondary weapon for new kinds of combos. Design lacks creativity. Impressive how many enemies and bodies stay on the screen.
Overall, promising, but nothing too special yet.

It looks ok, it'll look better when its on BluRay and controlled by SIXAXIS.
I kid, I kid. I just noticed a lack of PS3 retardation in this thread.
Honestly, its going to look decent. Its a next gen game. We all know it'll look pretty. Hell, Lair looked pretty. As long as it is fun, remember fun? I have high hopes.

The brutality & the fast action literally made this a must have title for me! Now if only I got a X360!!
I have to say the graphic does look like a high-res Ninja Gaiden Xbox.

I'm honestly quite suprised to see this game getting a pass in the graphics department from this forum. This is the same site that ripped NGS for it's bland textures and last gen graphics, yet this game at a similar point as when we first saw NGS is looking far, far less advanced graphically. The textures are less impressive, most things don't cast shadows, and the backgrounds are flat, flat, flat. The game also appears to be running at a lower resolution than NGS, if the screens are accurate at all. Of course they have more time, but I'm sensing one hell of a bias here.
Btw, I'm playing NGS right now, so it's quite fresh in my mind.

Mother****in' brutal. And the scythe is slowly starting to become a weapon I'll love to wield, though it seems to hover somewhere in the WarHammer/Unlabored Flawlessness area in terms of speed. The ultimate technique for the weapon looks like it would benefit in close quarters combat, where you don't have a lot of room to breathe, and looks to work similar to the Dabilahro's ultimate technique.
From the two types of Ninpo displayed, which looked like a brand new "Wind" ninpo and a revamped "Fire" ninpo, it looks as if the farther you upgrade it, the amount of multi-directional range increases as it spreads out to attack groups of enemies.
Some things I've noticed:
-It looks as if you're able to switch your weapons and ninpo in real time.
-Where bodies faded in Ninja Gaiden, they stay in Ninja Gaiden II. I wonder if you can back track to the very beginning of a stage at anytime and still be able to admire your handiwork?
Those gargoyle-type enemies look to be a real handful.

Nice show TNinja!
That guy is a huuuuuuge prick but the knows what he is doing.
The action seemed even more frenetic than the first and considering we haven't been forced to swallow a bunch of hype, IMO, it's nice to see a project that already looks as fun? to play as the first, rather than just worried about showing off it's graphics.
It means that when the game actually ships out, it probably will still be smooth and fun to play, rather than be shown a pretty game, but, once it ships, it really isn't that fun to play, like some other games lately.
