Set in set in the violent period of civil wars in Yugoslavia from 1991 to 1995, T-72: Balkans on Fire! puts the player as a Russian volunteer tank commander right into the turret of some of the best tanks the Russians built * the T-72B, the T-55A and the T-34-85.
Battlefront has released a demo allowing you to try out 3 missions from the full game. The missions "Driving" and "Firing Range" will familiarize yourself with the proper functions of the game and vehicle and will end once all the objectives are met. The third mission (Dog fight) will not end even after you engage and destroy the enemy. This will allow you to drive around the entire map and shoot at any other targets you wish until you manually end the mission.
You can grab the T-72: Balkans on Fire! demo (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=26739) (190mb) off WorthPlaying.

One can only imagine the true to life missions that might be possible in this game:
- Shell the city of Sarajevo
- Massacre the Muslim men and boys in Strebiniza
- Prepare mass graves
- Violate UN ceasefire
Coming next from Battlefront: Rwanda in Flames! puts the player in a Hutu militia. The missions "Genocide" and "Refugee Camp" will familiarize yourself with the proper functions of the machete and will end once all the objectives are met.

There's always someone in every group who wants to ruin the fun.

As always, looks as if Battlefront will be putting out a winner. Each and every Battlefront game I have purchased has been great and this looks to continue the tradition. Looks like a very good alternative to Steel Beasts 2 since that one costs so damn much.

You gotta admit... the title is in bad taste. Really bad taste.

It's nothing of the sort, any more than any one of the hundreds of titles set against historical conflicts. Some people just desperately feel the need to preach their political correctness gospel.

My machine isn't good enough to run this at max at present, but even with lower settings, it is a really good simulation. The armour modelling (ie penetration etc) is superb, and it has enormous depth

Heaven forbid we play games about real events.
With your philosophy we could never play any historical games as in most situations bad things were done by all sides involved. Guess we just gotta stick with SimCity and such, ohh wait can't you have Ghettos in SimCity. OUTRAGEOUS!!!! How can we make light of the fincially impoverished. We must not play SimCity either!

Thanks for posting this Rainofterror. There aren't enough tank sims available these days. I played through half the first mission and am thoroughly impressed. I also concur that Battlefront does an outstanding job on their software. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of tank simulations. Guess that leaves most of you candy ass cake-eaters out.
