A few tasty tidbits have shown up in the Australian Classification Board's listing, revealing the impending release of previously Japan only games including Super Mario Bros. 2 (JPN) (http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&p=156&sTitle=mario&sMediaGames=1&sDateFromM=1&sDateFromY=1970&sDateToM=9&sDateToY=2007&record=222793), Mario Super Picross (http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&p=156&sTitle=mario&sMediaGames=1&sDateFromM=1&sDateFromY=1970&sDateToM=9&sDateToY=2007&record=222795) and...wait for it...
Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth (http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&p=156&sProducer=nintendo&sMediaGames=1&sDateFromM=1&sDateFromY=1970&sDateToM=12&sDateToY=2009&record=222958)(!)
Fire Emblem(s) next please Nintendo. Anything else anyone's can think of?

I wouldn't mind seeing the Shin Megami Tensei games.
Sin & Punishment sucked I hear. Jet Force Gemini FTW.

Hmm, I wouldn't want to tackle the real SMB2 without on-level save like in All Stars.

I second that, it would probably do okay considering how well received Persona 3 has been. I also wouldn't mind seeing Capcom's Sweet Home (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Home_%28video_game%29), a little known game which had a big influence on the Resident Evil games.

You should probably reread the original post.
Also, no Rare original IP is ever showing up on Nintendo's machine.

Shit, my bad. Mother 3 (and Earthbound), then.

Any of the MegaTen games, of which the Shin Megami Tensei group are part, would get me to buy a Wii.
The fact that the next SMT game is probably only coming to PS3 is more incentive for me to get a PS3 than FF is.

I think the reason we're seeing these games is because their English translations will take between zero and two hours to implement. An SMT game would take months of work, and then they'd have to release it for no less than $20, for which people would be up in arms.
That being said, I hereby promise to buy all newly (and competently) translated VC RPGs and adventures, costing up to and including $20.

Wasn't there that one insane game where you were the President of the USA in some goofy giant-mecha? I know it was PS2, but they should see if that could be converted. IIRC, all the dialogue was in English anyway.

Seiken Denetsu III followed by the Mother trilogy.

No, Sin & Punishment was damn good. Such a neat game. Too bad it came so late in the N64's life, and it was never released here.

SMB2 JP was released in NA in the SMB All Stars Game although it was enhanced somewhat if I recall correctly.

No. It was Xbox.
And it's fucking AWESOME, for the record. Made by the same people as Otogi. You will never have more fun in your life than that big pile of delicious cheese. :D

I think this is an important point. RPGs take more effort than action games to translate. Atlus USA has also said a number of times that they're not looking into releasing any of the old MegaTen games; they're moving forward instead.
I must admit, I'd be nervous about some of the older MegaTen games. I'm afraid I've been spoiled by the polish of the five PS2 MegaTen games. I get the impression that the older games are a bit more hardcore.
Then again, if any old MegaTen game gets released officially in the US, I'd pick that up at the drop of a hat. Even at $20 on the VC.

Sin and Punishment? That is so frickin' awesome.
This is the game I've been hoping for since they announced the virtual console.

You're thinking of Metal Wolf Chaos, an XBox game that wasn't released state-side. It should have been, though; it seemed ridiculous enough to be awesome.

Don't bet on that. Nintendo is working hard ($$$) to get Goldeneye on the VC

I remember back in the day OXM hid a Japanese Metal Wolf Chaos demo on the disk. What an awesome surprise. I was laughing so hard playing it. Skyelan, did the Japanese release include English subtitles through the whole game?

Devil World, and any other game represented in Super Smash Bros. Brawl that hasn't seen US release.

Yes OMFG, if they would only do this already, seriously, so much potential sales. Just release the whole Trio of them. They know we would all buy them. Some people may miss out on the scratch 'n' sniff but too bad, hit eBay up.
Come on, I want my Mother 1/2/3

Japanese N64 wrestling games. There might only be a couple hundred that want them but I will hump my Wii if they make their way to the US VC.

Yeah you heard wrong.
Arcade shooting bliss, and no end game "FIND ALL THE FURBIES" quest.
I love JFG too though, they're actually quite different games.
Agreeing with the Mother and FE 1-5 sentiments.

I just picked up Brain Buster Puzzle Pak, which contains Sudoku, Slitherlink, Nurikabe, Lights On, and Kakuro. The interface is a little wonky but it's a great way to follow up Picross. Some similar but different puzzles and some comletely unique puzzles. Plus it's only $20.

Well it's a good thing the SNES ones are coming. There's about seven of them too!
Seiken Denetsu III followed by the Mother trilogy.
Seiken Densetsu III unfortunately was no where near as good as Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu III for those who don't know.)
But the mother games, those I'd buy so hard and fast I'd crash Nintendo's servers!
