This one is for all you hardcore dungeon crawlers out there. Wii is getting a new entry in the ChunSoft Mysterious Dungeon family, Shiren the Wanderer 3 is preparing to brutalize players with its random dungeons, leveling monsters and generally hardcore difficulty. Check out the screen shots (http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/2007/09/05/104,1188967053,77564,0,0.html?ref=rss) over at Famitsu.com for a glimpse of the 3D engine at play.
I'm always up for an old-school hardcore Hack/Rogue-like dungeon crawl.

That looks very nice. I'd definitely look for this one if it came stateside.

Wonder if it's a JRPG? I mean, obviously it is, but is it a typical JRPG? I really, really dislike them, but this looks like it could be fun if it's got more Western RPG stylings.

I'm not familiar with this series, any co-op possibilities? Mentions of Diablo have me excited though, as my gf and I used t love playing that game together.

Fushigi no Dungeon/Mysterious Dungeon is actually a series of console roguelikes. Last year's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games for GBA and DS were a part of the series (albeit simplified a bit for the Pokemon kids). I'd definitely be interested if they brought this stateside.

The Mysterious Dungeon series, are pure roguelikes. Turn-based movement, random dungeons, item identification, the whole package, and the original Shiren the Wanderer for the SNES was quite simply the best game Chunsoft ever made, and one of the best roguelike games ever made.
Hopefully this one will actually see release in the US. So far the Mysterious Dungeon games that've made it stateside have been their weaker titles.

Does that include the Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon game for the PS1? That was awful.....

Yes it does. I think there was one with Yangus from Dragon Quest VIII recently. My wife LOVED Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon, she's pick a sequel instantly.

dungeon crawlers like this would make great games for xbl/psn...
add in 4 player party support online and you would have a winner.

Yes! Finally a dungeon crawler for the Wii. Wonder how they will use the Wii controller?

With hope? Absolutely nothing. Preferrably it'll be built for the Classic controller.
Of all the genres of game to tack crappy motion controls onto, I can't think of a more out of place one than roguelikes, except maybe turn-based strategy games.

Maybe it'll be used like a mouse? Just for cursor purposes.

This officially falls into the "Not a bad idea" department.

This could be really cool or really sucky... I am hoping for the cool part. :)

Not really necessary. Roguelikes by their very nature are built for arrow keys and joypads, and the Fushigi no Dungeon series is no exception.
I love the art style of this game...but I wish it was more Gauntlet (with more engaging combat mechanics) than Rogue-like. I think this would work well in MP if it did have Gauntlet style combat, with Rogue-like items/magic, stats etc.

Fuck you. Everything is damn gauntlet now. You can get fucking Marvel gauntlet if you want.
Let us have this, we need it.

That's a nice looking game.
It looks like a grid-based fighter, which is right up my alley. I just hope the gameplay has some sort of strategic depth to it besides the classic JRPG escalating arms race. From the look of the shots, position is probably only marginally important, and there's zero terrain considerations.
