Oh Billy! Major Nelson brings word (http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/08/29/arcade-streets-of-rage-2.aspx) that Sega's classic beat em' up Streets of Rage 2 has made it's way to Xbox Live Arcade today for 400 Points. The game supports both local and Xbox Live Co-Op play.

I've found that SOR2 doesn't hold up very well over time, and Puzzle Fighter is a much better game now that I'm older.

I am going to try both SOR2 and Puzzle fighter out today and see which one to buy, I have 400 points on the account that are itching to be spent. The question is do I want to get another 400 for puzzle fighter as I am getting the Samsung LE40M86 (http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Samsung-LE40M86BD/)tomorrow which cost me a fortune and I should really curb my spending.

Yeah, I wish I had known this before I plonked down the points for Puzzle Fighter as I had been holding out for this. Still as fun as I remember it, but the smooth graphics option just makes me feel I'm playing a violent oil painting.

Is that an obscure "Cable Guy" reference, Bap??

Thanks for reminding me, Puzzle Fighter is a must-buy for my wife.

Ack!

Points bleeding everywhere.

And I can say with great happiness that I exchanged my borked 360 for a BRAND NEW ONE with HDMI!

So...that's one further feature I'll never need. But the HDMI version has the improved intestines, doesn't it? With the better heat-dispersal crap?

Not necessarily Johan...when they first released the HDMI Version they didnt switch over to the new fab process.

At leasts thats what I read...here somewhere.

or, you can get it on gametap for the equivalent of 800 points, with the other 2 streets of rage, psychonauts, tomb raider legend and anniversary, and over 900 other games.

Sweet Mary and the holy goat!

Dammit why do I have to go out this evening?! Those who know me well (and that's like.. no one here, no offense) will know I rank this game up there with some of my favourite games.

Been looking forward to this for a long time, the cartridge is still inside the Mega Drive and has been for the last few months. No more messing around with cables and a slightly broken joypad! ^_^; yey!

Anyone who hasn't played this before but is interested may want to read the gamespot review.

In the context of a classic game re-release with online etc. for $5 I'd probably give it a 10 myself :).

Streets of Rage 2? More like SWEETS of Rage 2! :D

I love this game, and I love Yuzo Koshiro's midi music! He rocks.

3 was better.

Put your crack pipe back down son. They added 2 awesome "moves", the dash, and the sideways roll, but apart from that:
- the difficulty was unbalanced, and just generally too hard. Also you couldn't complete the game on easy, you got to a fake ending part way through, so it was less accessible.
- the music wasn't as good
- the graphics weren't as good - they were similar but something about the choice of colour palette
- the characters were less varied (although maybe a little more balanced than 2 - using Max on Mania is almost impossible.
- There was that naff level where you had to rescue the police chief and move back and forth between the levels before the timer runs out and you get gassed(?), I just died too many times on it.
