The Gamerscore Blog (http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2007/08/27/552912.aspx) sends word that this weeks Arcade title on the Xbox is none other than Super Puzzle Fighter HD (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/s/superpuzzlefighter2turboxboxlivearcade/). * Classic arcade play: The game features all the classic elements from the original arcade game, including traditional X Mode. Think fast on your feet as gems fall into your character's playfield. Don't let the stack get too high.
* New X' Mode: The new X' Mode has been rebalanced with adjusted drop patterns and damage to level the playing field.
* Y and Z Modes: Y Mode challenges players to connect three or more gems horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Z Mode has you group four adjacent gems and rotate them to join to other same-colored gems.
* Stunning new graphics: Beautifully detailed high-definition backgrounds and character art come from the talented artists of Udon Comics.
* New elemental effects: Gems and Crash Gems interact with dazzling new effects.
* Hidden characters: There's Akuma, Dan, and more.
* Online play: Get online with Xbox LIVEŽ and challenge other players to Ranked and Player Matches. Follow your progress on the leaderboards, and try to score the twelve all-new achievements!

The game will set you back 800 MS points.

It should be $10. It'll be on the PSN this week as well.

Yup. I'll probably pick it up too. I used to rent this game for my Saturn, and it was very good. I haven't played it in a long while.

Capcom announced it'll be 800 points.

I really look forward to trying the new modes.

I do too, but there's one really good reason to get this one: they rebalanced the characters. Dan's still a joke, but otherwise, everyone's been redone in some way.

I still can't get over the Street Fighter names... "Super Turbo Ultimate Awesome Street On Speed Puzzle Figter II EX". Cool games though, but Capcom sure knows how to milk a franchise.

Damn straight Dan's still a joke, and for good reason!

There's nothing more fun than a Dan vs. Dan match

Damn it, I'm supposed to be studying for the GRE's. I thought the delay of Stranglehold would give me some time; fortunately I'm not a big fan of the Prime series of Metroid. Then this thing comes along.

Finally, something worth buying (for me). I haven't bought an XBL title in a while. If I had a PS3, I would definately buy it there (crappy 360 d-pad). Who knows, I'll probably buy both.

Anything else out on XBLA this week? Puzzle Quest?

Think of it more like Capcom fighting games mixed with Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. Turn the beans into gems, and allow your fighting avatars to fight each other with each gem set you burst, and you have it. :) If you're still confused, play the demo first. :)

Argg.... $10.... I suck at this game so bad, but still I want it. If it had been 400 points, it would have been an automatic buy. 800 for a game I suck at and probably won't play online after the 20th time I get stomped.... don't know. But it does look <teen girl squad>SOOO GOOOOD!!!!</tgs>

I think I'm probably going to try and hold out for SSF2T:HDR. Hopefully it will be out in the not-too-distant future.

Anything else out on XBLA this week? Puzzle Quest?I was going to ask the same thing. All I've seen announced for this week is this and the DLC for Bomberman. At least last week we had Space Giraffe!!

It's about time this thing is available. I've been going to the Super Puzzle Fighter HD section in the marketplace for a while but it's always just themes or gamer pics. I don't know if I ever really played this game back in the day but I might just have to snag it if I like the demo.

I think Puzzle Quest is going to be a bit off. My guess is there's some logistical issues with it.

Castle Crashers is suppsoed to hit soon, and it's fucking incredible. I'll be doing a write up soon.

Logisitcal issues? At least in a face-to-face game, Crash and I seemed pretty happy with it, not sure how Live will fare.

As for Castle Crashers, crash is a fitting name, I don't know how old the beta they had on the DevKit was, but it definitely isn't ready, it locked up at least 3 times while I was watching/playing it - but I totally agree, Castle Crashers was quite awesome.

For the record, Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is Puyo Pop. Incidentally, Kirby's Avalanche is also Puyo Pop.

Well I'm in the same boat as Johan, my 360 died today while trying to load up Bioshock. I didn't even make it past the plane crash.

I was looking forward to some SF puzzle action too.

The PSN part of the $10 part? Both are covered here (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/22/super-puzzle-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-drops-aug-29/).

Interesting. I wonder why no one else is covering it. Seems like a pretty big deal to state its up and running for both.

Wonder if they will have a PSN demo since the 360 will have one.

It's a pretty unimpressive single player game, the multiplayer is where the game really shined.

Hmm.. I'm definately going to try this out on the weekend when I'm reunited with my 360, but the fact that it's more of a multiplayer game scares me. I'm already having a hard time finding players for a lot of the Arcade games (outside of matches with EvAvers) and I'll have to see if this is worth all the hub-bub.
