Along with their normal Tuesday "excessive amounts of scheduled downtime", Blizzard has released the new World of Warcraft (http://worldofwarcraft.com/) v1.6.0 Patch file.
Blackwing Lair Released!
Nefarian's sanctum, Blackwing Lair, can be found at the very height of Blackrock Spire. It is there in the dark recesses of the mountain's peak that Nefarian has begun to unfold the final stages of his plan to destroy Ragnaros once and for all and lead his army to undisputed supremacy over all the races of Azeroth. Blackwing Lair is a max-level, 40-player raid dungeon, with many new encounters and tempting rewards awaiting the intrepid adventurer that dares enter its halls. (Blackwing Lair will not be accessible during the public test.)
Darkmoon Faire!
A gathering of the exotic from around the world and beyond, Silas Darkmoon has brought together the Darkmoon Faire as a celebration of the wondrous and mysterious found in Azeroth. While the Faire spends most of their time in parts unknown, they do stop from time to time in Mulgore and Elwynn forest. When the faire is on its way barkers will stop by Ogrimmar and Ironforge to announce its arrival.
Battlemasters!
There is a new way to enter the battleground queues. Battlemasters! Located in some of the cities, right-clicking on a battlemaster will allow your character to enter a battleground queue just like you normally would if you touched that battleground’s entrance portal. The functionality is exactly the same, so when it’s your character’s time to enter the chosen battleground, you will be teleported directly in. Glordrum Steelbeard stands in the Hall of Arms in Ironforge, serving as the Alliance battlemaster for Alterac Valley. Aethalas of the Silverwing Sentinels stands ready in Darnassus, next to the warrior trainers, to send Alliance characters into Warsong Gulch. And in the Hall of the Brave, located in Orgrimmar’s Valley of Honor, Brakgul Deathbringer serves as the Horde’s battlemaster for Warsong Gulch, while Kartra Bloodsnarl will send you to bring glory to the Horde in Alterac Valley. Guards in their respective cities can give you directions on how to find them.

Are you kidding? You know how many people were looking forward to this so they have something else to do?
My guild clears MC and Onyix within 2 days, so then we have 5 days left to play alts or fill our time up with something else. We are all looking forward to a new challenge where we can put those repair bots to use!

impossible raid instance
Calling any of the raid content in WoW impossible is a huge hyperbole that only someone who's never done it could say. Sure, it takes 40 people, and those 40 people need how to get organized and take orders. Still, it's FAR from impossible.
As for taking hours, sure, but that's why it saves your progress so you can pick up later. (That's also, of course, why I quit WoW for now.)

Man, I was bored of this game after a few months. Heh, I wish I was one of those gamers who was able to keep interested in a game for long periods of time.

Man I wish I still had my old Infocom games in a usable format, but I'm sure they're lurking on the web.
And hooray for more WoW, it's definitely the most entertaining MMORPG out there, even for those of us who can only play a few hours a week. (Yes, really!)

Yay! WoW bashing! Woo Hoo. We should also talk about stuff like the war in Iraq, how much Bush sucks and beating dead horses! Oh, and lets not forget how much GW pwns everything else. Sheep.

Yes, not having a Warsong BattleMaster in IronForge is unfair, especially because this system will not fix anything. Alterac Valley will still be empty and Warsong will still have a wait time. The waiting to join a PvP setting is rediculous, and it is Blizzards fault for taking so long for making PvP matter in any way. The result was that no one played Horde.

I see quite a few Horde on my server... of course, being on Tichondrius, one of the highest pops, it's pretty easy to see them!
I'm glad to see a new patch! The faire sounds fun, I'm sure I'll check that out in my perpetual state of lowbie-ness.
Hey, fuck off, you're religious .
At least my game isn't gimped.
As a side-note, I think you won that round. But next time. Next time.

Do I read correctly that the Horde have BOTH battlemasters in the same city? While the Alliance have to go to 2 seperate, distant cities? How fucked is that?

How far is Alterac Valley/UBRS/LBRS/BRM/Strath/Sholo from Ogrimmar compared to Ironforge?
Onyxia's Lair is close, Dire Maul and Warsong Gultch are the only trips that don't take at least 15 minutes of travel for the Horde to get to if you are level 60.
What value does a battlemaster for a PVP instance that is a 7 minute ride from your main city really add?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say not having to ride for seven minutes.

Prove it!
(haHA!)
Personally, I think spreading Battlemasters to diff. cities for either side is dumb. The whole point of putting them in the game was to get more people involved in Battlefields by having easier access. But if the Alliance needs to go all the way to Darnassus, a city which most Alliance will agree is rarely ever visited, that's not going to help at all.

Both Alliance Battle Masters are standing right next to each other in the Hall of Arms in IF. Not sure why they didn't update the notes to reflect that.

That is exactly the part that I think is such a pain in the ass. I had a feeling when I posted that somebody would get all pissy but I didn't have time to elaborate.
I've been in a few large guilds in WoW and it's been my experience that getting that many people together takes way longer than it's worth. It's also hard to coordinate because people don't like to cooperate.
I like the non-raid instances just fine, it's much easier to get a group of 5 together and have some fun than it is to get 40 people together and have them all do what they are supposed to so you don't get your ass handed to you.

I didn't mean to come off as "pissy" at all. Just pointing out that the raid stuff isn't close to impossible. The time committment makes it somewhat annoying and sort of a chore, but doesn't really increase the difficulty and certainly not to "impossible" heights.
I've been in a few large guilds in WoW and it's been my experience that getting that many people together takes way longer than it's worth. It's also hard to coordinate because people don't like to cooperate.
My guild was like this. Then everyone realized the guild wasn't good for raid content, so we split off. I made it into a much better raiding guild. In this one people did cooperate and it took less than an hour to get the raids together. And we did them on a nice set schedule three times a week. Still too much time committment for me, which, as I mentioned, is why I've quit for now, but it was running pretty smoothly, and I got an epic or two out of the deal.
I like the non-raid instances just fine, it's much easier to get a group of 5 together and have some fun than it is to get 40 people together and have them all do what they are supposed to so you don't get your ass handed to you.
I agree, and always will, that the non-raid instances are better. But then again, I like soloing even more than them for the same reason.

In my experience it usually takes even an hour to get together a group to do a five man instance. But I am on a low pop server, so maybe that is it.

The only reason our raid instances were taking less time is because we had them planned beforehand so people showed up on time. Getting together an instance for me (on a medium-high pop server) usually takes around an hour, less if it's a particularly popular instance (SM, DM, etc.)

Both BG battlemasters are in IF, I was worried about that too when I read the notes. Logged on briefly this morning before work to check. While, not really, went to redo my talents, but saw them both.

I noticed the different cities thing when the patch notes were first released and had the same WTF reaction... I'm glad they realized how stupid that was.
Now if we could just get some damn AV instances going daily. I wants me some unstoppable force :(

I'm on the Gorefiend server and the AV BG is always busy. I've been in the queue from 10 minutes to over an hour (and of course I'm busy questing by the time my time to get into the BG comes up...).
I don't know about your servers but the Alliance has won every AV BG that I've been playing this past week (the most tense one was when we trained the Horde general out of his HQ and killed him 1-1/2 minutes before the server shut down for maintenance a few nights ago).
