View Full Version : Call of Duty 4 Beta Going Worldwide

Gameplayer (http://www.gameplayer.com.au/Home/NEWS/NEWS/tabid/1482/Default.aspx?CID=8e5d2652-9314-4709-b005-eab884caa056) received word this morning from CoD4's publisher Activision that the Beta once thought to be US only, and then to a select few countries, is now going out to the greater world. Australia, usually ignored by the industry, being part of those lucky few.
As of this morning, Infinity Ward have back-flipped, presumably in the pike position, and confirmed that the greater globe will also get a chance to give the CoD4 multiplayer experience a test run.
It includes a link to Gameplayer's huge hands-on (http://www.gameplayer.com.au/Home/FEATURES/FEATURE/tabid/1488/Default.aspx?CID=0a53f261-d94f-429f-8b4a-ae7484d3f7f6) feature with the Beta.

So is this beta going to be pretty limited or is basically everyone going to get in?
what about a pc demo? i mean come on cod started out on pc, where is the love? ^^
i hope i can even play it, i was pretty flabbergasted to discover i cant play the medal of honor airborne demo because it uses shader 3.0 which my not so old x800 does not have

That's ok. The PC version will just be a half-assed, dumbed-down version of the leet Xbox 360 game. Don't worry about it.

Today's signup is US only. IW have always said that the beta would be worldwide later on.

i dont get why people play fps with inferior controls ^^ i also hope that the pc version will be just as good
if they made more console games with m/k support like ut on the ps3 i could see myself switching

Mouse and Keyboard is always going to win out, but CoD4's console controls are some of the best I have ever experienced. Don't sell it short just yet.

well with the site being down pretty much all day today (no one saw this coming with the wonderful timer, another brilliant idea) how do we register...im on cod but never registered for the beta for the sole reason of the US only ... so is this wave of tokens US only or is it worldwide??? anyone know.. it would be nice to get in but if not i have bioshock to hold me over til the 4player co-op game comes out (i forget the title tho)

Second: Here's the low down.
As the many of you who have stayed home from work, school, and neglected loved onces can attest to, CharlieOscarDelta.com has officially died. Today. Again. On Beta sign-up day. While we're all waiting for the countdown timer to hit zero.
We were assured relentlessly time and time again by the company who runs and maintains Charlieoscardelta.com for us that they have adequately prepared the servers for this massive Beta roll-out.
That was fucking bullshit.
I'm not going to lie, I'm fucking mad as hell.
Fuck this first come first serve registration, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE COMMUNITY.
NO MORE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. We will be taking care of the guys who've spent the last 6 months on the site, reading all of our updates, participating in our forums, and staying home all day today refreshing the site to get a token. UPDATE: That doesn't mean post count, join date, or rank effect your chances for good or bad, it just means everyone will have an equal chance regardless of the site errors.
YOU WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF, and we will make sure that everyone has an equal chance to get into the beta REGARDLESS of depending on the the site.
So here's the current plan. We are cracking whips and making sure the site gets back up and running. We're going to do away with the first come, first serve and are going to have open registration for 24 hours.
So whether you're able to get on the site within the hour, or log on at midnight tonight, you can sign-up and have an equal chance at a token.
We will then take that massive database of sign-ups over the next 24 hours, and distribute all available tokens to the members who sign-up.
We're doing everything we can to make sure this site crash does not effect your chances for Beta glory.
So keep the comments, emails, and calls coming guys, it's just fueling our fight to make sure you guys are taken care of.
