DEFCON freeplay weekend

In conjunction with a DEFCON tournament running at this years PAX07, Introversion and Ambrosia Software (publishers of DEFCON Mac) have decided to run a DEFCON free-play weekend. The event will start at 18:00 GMT on August 24th and run until 06:00 GMT on Monday, August 27th at 06:00 GMT. During this time usual demo restrictions will be lifted and you won't be required to provide key codes to have access to the full game, making DEFCON free for all to play. Feel free to spread the word amongst your friends and family, and we look forward to welcoming a few new faces next week. :D

Until 6:00 GMT Monday night, August 27, the demo version of Introversion's hit RTS, Defcon, will be unlocked for free play. Download the demo from their web site, or from Steam.

Members of the EvAv community should also know that I will be scheduling an event for Sunday to play some Defcon.

Awesome, I'll see if I can't be online Sunday for this then. I haven't really played much of this since release, but it's a great, great game.

I bought this game when it came out... Never once played it. Looked decent though.

I'm another one who bought it, and hardly touched it since. The one mutliplayer game I nearly had with some EvAv peeps, my modem crapped out on me. :(

How the heck do you get the demo for this event?

Steam or Introversion's web site.

I guess I will put a direct link. I just figured most would use steam, or they already had it. Literally, anyone on Evil Avatar can play this game. It has very low requirements.

Actually, it wouldn't run on my old notebook with a GMA915 chipset, IIRC.

Defcon is a game I've played mabye 3 or 4 times since I bought it but I still feel good about supporting them, unlike 2KGames and thier DRM bull shit.

Ah, good ol' Defcon. If my TV is otherwise engaged tonight, I might just join in the fight tonight. I love the game but there were so many problems with the net code when it came out (and everyone seemed to drift off to other games shortly after it came around) that I never really put the amount of time into it that I wanted to. Oh well.

But yeah. Sign me up for tonight if there's still a match of some sort happening.
