The reviews for NCAA Football 06 are starting to pop up. Xbox.IGN (http://xbox.ign.com/) has posted their review (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/632/632759p1.html) of NCAA Football 06 and have given it a 9.2 out 10 while Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/) has given it (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/sports/ncaafootball2006/index.html) a 8.8 out of 10.

Here's a bit from the Gamespot review regarding the differences between the PS2 and Xbox versions.
...the PS2 version has superior control over the Xbox version because all the buttons are more easily reachable...However, the PS2 version of the game suffers from really long load times for menus, as well as when simulating weeks during the dynasty and race for the Heisman modes. The Xbox loads and simulates many times faster, so if you envision yourself spending a lot of time in the career modes, you may want to consider the Xbox version, even with its control issues. Finally, the PS2 version does suffer from slowdown in some circumstances. The frame rate drop seems to happen the most on kickoff returns and other low-angle situations, but in general, it's not nearly the big problem that the Xbox slowdowns were on last year's game. It's difficult for us to determine which version is better, so deciding between faster load times and slicker in-game controls is likely to be a more personal decision.
Anyone go out and get this yesterday? I'll find out for myself tonight if these reviews are even close to the mark.

What ever happened to football games that were just about playing football and not a coach/manager sim. I mean is it just me, or does it just feel weird to play football RPG these days.

I mean is it just me, or does it just feel weird to play football RPG these days.NCAA 2006 is "about playing football" - you could happily play game after game of football and never touch the Dynasty Mode. That being said, most college football fans LOVE the dynasty mode. They love the recruiting/managing/coach sim aspect of NCAA 200X. That's why I pick it up each year.

Why is this the first one they arent porting to cube? They probably figure the Gamecube sports gamer is a small market. EA is still releasing Madden 06 for the Gamecube, just not NCAA. It's a shame but it's a business decision on EA's part. And we all know how popular those are.

'05 sold like crap.

Nobody buys these games on Gamecube partially due to the lack of online support.

I love the smell of a monopoly in the morning.

The NCAA games never come to Canada anyway. I don't see why EA doesn't make a CFL game off the same engine. I doubt it would cost them anything substantial, even as an experiment.

Remember, those of you who are purchasing EA games are doing the games industry a disservice in the long run.

Orz, are you kidding? The NCAA games always come to canada.

I bought my copy at EB yesterday.

CFL would be alot of extra work with the different rules, field sizes etc.

+ CFL football just isn't as good.

The bulk of the work in a football game is in making physics, models, and animations. All those things would be unchanged in a CFL game. All you need are new stadiums, players, and UI. Tinkering with the rules would be academically easy.

Oh, and they'd have to buy the CFL rights, and hire geniune Canadian commentators. I'm sure thouse would cost millions of... well, okay, maybe eighty bucks.

It pisses me off that reviewers hailed the xbox controller s as if it was the second coming of jesus when the white and black buttons were virtually inaccesible. Then they score games that require the buttons lower. Just use the original xbox controller and stop bitching you small-handed pussies.

Updated roster, new features no one cares about, and a 49.99$ price tag. I remember back in the days when you bought a new ncaa game or madden game you bought it because it brought something new to the table. Not just a face lift and a roster update, pass.

Long live Espn and the 20$ sports game.
