Gamecloud has posted an interview (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=579) with Michael Hamlett of Vision Studios, talking about the Unreal Tournament 2004 Mod, Strike Force, and their plans for a commercial version of the game.

Strikeforce.... that really takes me back. I used to play this mod all the time, back in the glory days of Unreal Tournament. That must have been almost 6 years ago now... damn. I'm feeling like an old man.

The old UT Strikeforce had an incredible 'feel' to it. The action was really tense: this was no-nonsense, one-shot kill gameplay at its minimalist best. Scoring a kill felt like a fine achievement as the guns, though powerful, were devilishly hard to aim. There were some classic maps, too, including some pitch-black flashlight combat areas which I haven't ever seen implemented in any other game or mod.

I know this description doesn't do the game justice. There was something intangible about Strikeforce, something addictive (at the time, at least). I haven't played the UT2004 version, and don't intend to go back to the FPS scene in general, but I hope these guys do well.

i'd never heard of this before today, but this sounds something like counter-strike, correct? i think i'd love to play a good looking game like that on my xbox. i sometimes get annoyed at H2's silly armour and shields and wonder if i should be getting my team FPS on with a slightly more realistic game.

on that note, anyone know if/whens for counter-strike: source on the xbox? i tried out the original a while ago, and i'm sure it's great, but DAMN did it look ugly.

The UT 2004 conversion is rather successful. Sadly my favorite feature was omited: you no longer have inventories :(. Sure it's not realistic having a bag of rifles, but it was fun!
