Gamespot is reporting (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07/11/news_6128838.html) that Canadian game publisher Hip Interactive has gone bankrupt.

The publisher had a number of high-profile games on its upcoming slate including Call of Cthulhu: Destiny's End, George Romero's City of the Dead, and Jackie Chan Adventures. There has been no word on which publishers are in line to pick up those and other games due from Hip.

I hope that City of the Dead finds a new publisher quickly. Call of the Cthulhu though, I'm not so sure since it looks (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/callofcthulhudestinysend/screenindex.html) very Resident Evil 4 (which doesn't quite fit the right mood for the Cthulhu mythos IMHO, too much action).

Can't recall any good games they published. I did wanted to see how Call of Cthulhu turned out.

Looking at their product catalog on Gamespot...

...I'm filled with indifference as to their closure. Every game I had either not heard of, or heard it was crap.

Call of Cthulhu, most likely, would've stunk, but I did so desperately want it to be a good game. I haven't read anything about it in ages, but some of the ideas I recall from the early interviews were really solid.

Hopefully the game is released in good fashion, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

You should probably note that it's not the Call of Cthulhu game most people are going to think of (the one Bethesda is publishing). That's some other Cthulhu game.

Man, poor Call of Cthulu. That game's never going to get released.

Ugh, as Kathode tried to point out, Destiny's End and Dark Corners are two different games with two different publishers. Dark Corners has been in development for quite a long time whereas Destiny's End (the game Hip was publishing) was only recently announced.

Mmmmm, Dead to Rights and Killswitch. Sure glad I don't own a PS2. ;)

Edit: I just realized those games were also put out for the Xbox. Ewww.

As kathode pointed out, different game. Hence my Resident Evil 4 comment....

He posted that like a second before I made my post, and if you think I'm gonna edit mine, buster you are out of luck.

They did the action 4-pack of Deus Ex, Thief2, Commandos 2 and Tomb Raider Chronicles.

Half half. Worth it for 10 dollars.

CT Special Forces was damn good! No love for Beyond Divinity either?

Oh, good. That means this CoC game won't be buggy when it ships, if it ships, like the Bethesda one.

Compared to Divine Divinity, BD wasn't such a good game. In fact, I didn't think BD was a good game at all.

Thanks for clarifying with the Call of Cthulhu game: I had no idea there were two of them.

I thought Killswitch was some pretty good mindless fun for the 2$ price tag.
