Our own CaptStu points out this new Live Action Halo short (http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_4292_en.html).

My god...I can feel my blood turning Master Chief Green. WANT GAME NOW!

Thanks. My only problem with it is that the terrain looks like an overblown paintball field. I do like what the team is doing, and it definitely has potential in movie form (larger budgets).

The cool thing is they have never even shown Spartans... just grunts ;) Who knows what will happen when they show Spartans in action.

I like the verisimilitude. But I'd worry about how he stages action.

You sure are the optimist. A little over dramatized, but that video was pretty decent.

What the hell codec is this thing in? Stupid POS computer. Where's an IT guy to help me view non-work related material at work when you need him!?

Oh wait...

I don't like the washed out textures that much, and the camera style leaves a lot to be desired.

If they want the eventual movie to be generally acceptable to the public, it'll have to do away with the shakey cam.

The Bourne series did pretty well with the shakey cam.

Hmmm.... all of the live-action Halo stuff that has been shown to date is pretty bad, this included. Even the Bollenkamp stuff.

It seems shaky cam is the new steady cam. I actually really like it in the hands of a capable director, like in the new Harry Potter movie or the last two Bourne Movies, but in the hands of an incompetent director like Michael Bay, you get poorly shot action scenes like in Transformers.

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one, and also attribute the lower budget to some of the cinematography choices.

That's kinda my thinking. Once a finalized movie budget is set, everything should pick up nicely. I hope.

Yeah, it's just that Sci-Fi channel feel that might be throwing people off, but as Bruce Campbell puts it, the only difference between a sci fi channel original movie and a huge blockbuster is budget.

I think for a low budget, that looked fucking sweet.

I'm probably alone in this, but shaky-cam destroyed the last two Bourne movies for me. They weren't even content to just use it in the fight scenes -- even during shots of a couple people talking, the camera was wobbling all over the place in a ludicrously exaggerated fashion. Walked out of both movies with a headache. I about cried when I saw a Steadicam operator listed in the credits.
