There seems to be a LOT of DS news recently, even in the slow summer months.
Vertical shooter Nanostray (http://www.nanostray.com/) is coming out in a few days. A new video (http://www.nanostray.com/files/shinen_nanostray_video2_dualscreen.mpg) was just released and it is looking damn sweet.
Engadget just posted an article (http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000810049917/) about running full-speed SNES games on a DS emulator. Looks like they have sound and you can even send the ROMs to the DS via Wi-Fi.
Finally, here is a new article (http://www.gametab.com/news/316739/) on Animal Crossing from Gaming Evolution.
Fairly exciting, even without new Castlevania or Viewtiful Joe news!

Nanostray looks great. How often do SHMUPS get released? The DC still gets 'em.

Nintendo did a great job turning around the DS in Japan. This summer is pretty strong DS software wise, so let's see if NOA can work the magic that NCL managed. If so, sucks to be Sony.

This stuff looks really good.
Has anyone tried the SNES emulator for the Nintendo DS and does it run with sound, and more importantly, at full speed (unlike PSP SNES emus)? Also, does anyone have a step-for-step guide to getting this to work on a DS and what I'd need?

Turning around? They never looked back. It's been selling well constantly. DS had a strong launch and sold extremely well. Nintendogs secured more units in April and thier summer software is just keeping it in demand with hits like Brain Training, Goemon, etc.

I looked at the links, and can't see anywhere where it says how to get the SNES or NES emulators on the DS. I hope some Hong Kong company releases a DS game card that can make it easy to put homebrew stuff on via your Wi-Fi router. I can see somebody whipping up a web browser and AIM client on it.

You need a GBA flashcart to do this.

Oh shit...Nintendogs. Watch out! That's what I wanna play!
Oh no wait...I don't. I have a real dog, and I don't need to waste time on a fake one.
I can't wait for Castlevania to come out, because none of the DS software I've played is especially engaging.

That doesn't answer his question. Those are the links that were listed in the article, the ones that don't mention how to get the games or the emulator onto the DS. Considering that the main post said something about wifi, I assume it has to do with that thing where you need a certain kind of wi-fi card to use that special driver that was made to transfer stuff to the DS... In which case, it's completly useless to me, as I don't have one of those cards.
I would assume you need to load the program onto the flashcart like you would a GBA game. Which means it is useless to you because you need the flashcart to save the program and roms too.
My DS is on vacation with my daughter. When it gets back I will give it a shot.

Oh, sorry about that.
Here you go:
http://www.aaronrogers.com/nintendods/wifime.php
That teaches you how to do the WiFiMe. The list of supported cards are here (USB cards wont work)
http://ralink.rapla.net/
Once you figure out how to get WiFiMe working, there is a readme with the emulators that tells you how to do the rest.

It can hold and save simultaneously if that's what you are asking. But yes, you need to load a .gba file on your cart, then use the WiFiMe technique to run the .gba as a NDS game.

This is a little off topic but have you tried overclocking the PSP to the 333 setting? I have had some games run a little to fast this way when using the SNES emu on the PSP. When I play it I turn off the auto frame skip and set it manually so I can adjust it with the game I am currently playing. I have read where the emu is slow for some people and yet I know of others that it runs extremely well. I wonder if it has to do with free memory some how. Maybe it is different versions of the emulator.

Well, I was really only excited for the Animal Crossing preview. Animal Crossing remains in my top 6 of all time and I'd say without hesitation that it's probably the number one in that grouping. All the new addons are exactly what I was hoping for!
I'm going to be a happy camper when I buy my DS and Animal Crossing this Winter.

So, I need a flash cart AND this WiFiMe business, that doesn't remotely support my equipment? I guess I'll just stick to using the PSP for homebrew stuff.
Nanostray looks good. When it's cheap, which I think will be soon, I'll have to get it.

I'd give the game a try, but this really is mostly for urban kids without pets. Or so I like to think. I bet it's lots of fun, though. But it cant beat the real thing. In overgrown Japan, it's hard enough just finding a place to live yourself...let alone live with a dog.
A Korean company is putting out a game alot like Nintendogs, too. But instead of teaching them, you raise them and eat them.

That's the worst thing I've ever heard... I mean honestly, how would that be useful? o.o You'd have to be AT your PC to get it to work.

Yes, but once it is loaded, you can take it wherever you wish. As long as you don't power down, you don't have to redo the WiFiMe technique.

Not that that'll stop most of them.
Animal neglect is shockingly rife in Japan. At least the Nintendogs stay cute, so that means they're guaranteed to have the affections of their owners for more than a few weeks.

Of course it is. As South Park taught us, Japanese people don't have souls. And for the record, I am very tired yet unable to sleep - which is exactly when hate-filled comedy central lines come to mind.

Sorry, I'm just in a foul mood after I was noticed my local Homecare shop STILL hadn't shifted the dead turtles from their tank that I told them about every day for the past 3 days, then saw some wee fucker cutting the legs off ants and throwing the bodies at his teacher with total impunity.
"ooh, telling him off would make him feel bad you say? How bad will my speeding foot make your uterus feel?"

How do you overclock the PSP to the 333 setting? I have a NES and SNES emulator for the PSP but the only one that works good is the NES one. The SNES one runs like molasses.

There are advantages to Nintendogs. I live in a small apartment, so I don't have much space for a pet, if dogs were allowed. Also, I can't turn off a real dog, and removing the batteries involves a lot of blood.
