DSGaming has scans (http://www.dsgaming.co.uk/html/modules/news/article.php?storyid=754) from Famitsu magazine giving the first glimpse of the new Tamagotchi game on the Nintendo DS.

Tamagotchi making a comeback? With the WiFi of DS this could be interesting with different tamagotchi somehow "talking" to each other.

Funny this should pop up just now - I just started playing Animal Crossing. They seem to be of a similar genre to me - or perhaps they are just dissimilar from the norm. My point is - I am enjoying animal crossing, and while that the graphics from that tamagotchi game look like they'd give you headaches the actual idea of taking care of things and getting them to succeed is not as strange as most people seem to think.

There seems to be a LOT of DS news recently, even in the slow summer months.

Vertical shooter, Nanostray is coming out an a few days. A new video was just released and it is looking damn sweet.

Engadget just posted an article about running full-speed SNES games on a DS emulator. Looks like they have sound and you can even send the ROMs to the DS via Wi-Fi.

Dont know about the USA, but the Tamagotchi craze has been and gone thru Australia earlier this year.
And they did have wireless connectivity. Kids would play games, exchange Presents.

And as happened years ago with the original gotchis, teachers have banned them from classroooms fro being to distracting.
