Let's see, what's available this week? Hmmmm... Some game, another game, OMG SUPER METROID!!1!11! To be fair, all three releases this week are high-quality. Get em while they're hot!

Super Metroid (http://www.vc-reviews.com/review/415/super-metroid.php) (Super NES, 1 player, rated E for Everyone – Mild Violence, 800 Wii Points): The Space Pirates, merciless agents of the evil Mother Brain, have stolen the last Metroid from a research station, and once again Mother Brain threatens the safety of the galaxy. Samus Aran must don her awesome array of high-tech weaponry to retrieve the deadly Metroid hidden deep within the cave-riddled planet Zebes. Super Metroid features excellent graphics, with a huge variety of enemies and worlds to explore. The side-view action will be familiar to many players, only now there are new weapons and items, including the Grappling Beam, which allows Samus to swing across large chasms, and the X-Ray Scope, which reveals secret passages.

Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master (http://www.vc-reviews.com/review/408/shinobi-iii-return-of-the-ninja-master.php) (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older – Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): In this thrilling sequel to The Revenge of Shinobi, Joe Musashi finds that Neo Zeed – the crime syndicate he believed he had wiped out two years earlier – is indeed still alive and well. The return of Neo Zeed and its leader, the mysterious Shadow Master, forces Musashi to return from exile and confront the growing evil. As the Shinobi, the master of long-forgotten Oboro Ninjitsu martial arts, Musashi must utilize all his powers to overcome his various enemies. Thanks to his considerable combat skills and special Ninjitsu moves, only the Shinobi can thwart Neo Zeed and vanquish the Shadow Master.

Neutopia (http://www.vc-reviews.com/review/477/neutopia.php) (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points): In this action role-playing game, you take control of a brave boy who sets off on a journey to rescue the kidnapped princess and reclaim the eight medallions that were stolen by the evil demon, Dirth. You'll need to rely on your magic compass and information you've gathered to find entrances to labyrinths and defeat the bosses in them. Solve puzzles, avoid traps, move blocks and destroy walls to uncover secret rooms in the labyrinths. Carefully use your map to uncover hidden treasure and powerful equipment. Travel the land, underground, sea and sky on your quest to recover the medallions. With a save function, the right difficulty level and a system that doesn't include experience points, this is truly an RPG that anyone can enjoy.

Ofcourse I guess I could just not be lazy and go set up my SNES. :) Hmm...

Am I the only one not buying Super Metroid? I've got my physical copy and a still-working SNES and figure I don't need to spend the $8.

Now Neutopia! I have fond memories of that game and its great music. Thank god for the Wii and the fact that I can play all my lost TG16 games again. (Long live Military Madness!!)

Sweet mother of mercy Super Metroid I can hardly wait!! I went back and finished Zero Mission and tried to finish Metroid Fusion but SA-X was too hard. Whatever. I'm primed for Super Metroid again. And I might actually get Prime 3 next week too and maybe actually play Prime 2, which I bought but never played.

I need to go get a classic controller during lunch. It's worth the purchase just to play Super Metroid with a SNES style controller.

Do they tweak the graphics in these old games like the 360 releases?

Nope. Super Metroid doesn't need it though. It's a classic in every sense of the word. It's probably up there in my top 3 favorite games of all time.

Super Metroid! Finally I have a use for that classic controller that I haven't touched at all.

Super Metroid... what a game to release the same week as Bioshock.

I'll be picking up to repair the hole in my heart that was created when I was robbed a few years back and lost it and some extremely rare SNES games.

I sold my SNES (the redesigned version) a few years ago, as well as all my SNES games (including FFIII and Secret of Mana). Which is fine. I'd rather not have to drag out another console to play one game. The Wii's VC is like a dream come true in that sense.

Shinobi III. My favorite ninja game of all time.

I became so proficient at this game I started using the game genie to make it more difficult. No shuriken was the best code ever. All close combat action. So much fun. I'll be sure to pick this up.

And of course Super Metroid

Thank God, now people will stop whining that Super Metroid isn't on the VC list. Great week this week, though I'm not picking anything up personally.

Looking forward to downloading Super Metroid. Went back to playing Link II this weekend....I don't remember that game being so frustratingly difficult.

Super Metroid is one of those games I bought multiple times. I still have the cart around somewhere. I won't be buying it either. But if anyone out there hasn't played it yet, by all means buy this game immediately.

Neutopia looks like a completely shameless ripoff of the first Zelda, which is why I'm getting it.

Also, they have Super R-Type? I only saw R-Type III and the TG16 R-Type.

Well, now we'll just have to double up on the lack of Super Mario 3 whining. ;)

Ah, I can't wait to fire up the Wii later on and download Super Metroid. It's about time.

If only I didn't have Bioshock arriving tomorrow and Persona 3 occupying my evening tonight. But this will get much play later.

Word. This classic needs to be physically owned by the way of the SNES.

well now that this has hit the shop, i'm finally going to have to manage my channels and back them up to my SD card.

has anyone else filled their wii yet? know any good working procedures? i really like having all my game channels visible, and i hate the idea of filing a game away where it will probably be forgotten about

i'm still in hopes that nintendo will update the channels setup so that you can run them directly from the SD

I do have a SNES, but you're referring to the Wii. And actually, I do, but I'm giving it away as a gift. It's been sitting unopened in my living room for weeks now.

That aside, why would I want to play it on the Wii when I prefer the classic SNES controller and already own it?

A perfect storm is a bit far (since I wouldn't buy any of them, but I would grab Super Metroid if I didn't already have it), but it's a good showing.
