Anyone who purchases a Hellgate: London statue from Weta Collectibles between 15 – 31 August, will be offered a key to the closed beta test for Hellgate: London. www.wetanz.com (http://www.wetanz.com)

The figures are either $225 or $250

(and some people complained about buying Crackdown to play the Halo 3 beta)

Details are available here (http://www.hellgatelondon.com/news/view/87/www.wetanz.com)

Don't get me wrong, I totally want one of the statues and I'm only partially interested in Hellgate because my PC will struggle with it, but $225 or $250 is a little too rich for even the most hardcore gamers. They'll probably sell like a couple thousand or something. I bet those rich bastards will have a blast playing!

I think this is more meant to be a cool extra for buying one of the statues than it is to try to coax people into buying one who wouldn't have otherwise.

Quality seems nice, but I'm just not interested anymore in Hellgate. Now if they had a line of Bioshock statues I'd be all over that like stink on shit (without any extras like a beta invite).

This will go unnoticed by several pages of "ZOMG NOT WORTH IT" posts.

Don't knock those figures. I have a couple of the Lord of the Rings statues they did and they are really top notch. The beta seems to just be an added bonus. The figures though for hellgate really look well done as well. Beautiful work.

I agree, if I had some extra cash, I'd love any of those, they are all incredible looking and would be awesome on my bookshelf. It's too bad they are so expensive, maybe for Christmas I'll see if they are still available.

Seems like "Hellgate: London" wants to solidify it's "pay-to-play" image.

Definitely just a nice "thank-you" for buying an expensive item. Although it looks like they're stuff is really high quality. Of course if you REALLY want expensive, take a look at these bad boys. :)

People call those statues these days?

Anyway, I'd be curious to see the reaction if this was done by Microsoft...
