The next adventure of everybody's favorite Lombax and his little metal friend now has on official date. 1UP reports (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3162020) that the newest Full Moon Podcast (http://www.insomniacgames.com/podcast/podcast.php) pegs the date of Ratchet & Clank: Future - Tools of Destruction as October 23rd

As 1UP points out three huge PS3 exclusives, Lair, Heavenly Sword and Ratchet and Clank Future will all hit store shelves in a six week span in September and October. Good times ahead

Looking forward to this and Heavenly Sword. Still fairly skeptical about Lair, even if they did push back the release to fix problems.

Very good to finally see a solid release date for Ratchet, hopefully a demo will be out soon. They've already said via their podcast that they have one pretty much ready.

Ratchet and Clank is definitely the biggest of three in my opinion...

If Lair is the third best game coming out for the rest of the year for the PS3, I'm going to be disappointed. I'm sure a sleeper will turn up.

Yeah, I would consider Lair for a very rainy day. I think Uncharted: Drake's Fortune would make a better third title.

At last, the delay of GTAIV is paying off, and October is getting some content.

I'd take Uncharted over any other game this fall save for Bioshock. The game looks damn good. Then again, I'm a fan of Naughty Dog, I can't think of a game that they've made that I haven't enjoyed quite a bit.

Goddamn, this is the first title where I've said to myself, "I need a PS3". But, unfortunately, it's gonna have to wait. $650 (assuming the current cheap system is out of stock by then) will buy me a much better selection of 360, DS and PSP titles from the plethora this fall.

PS3...you're time is next year but damn I sure want to play Ratchet and Clank.

Go the $450 route dude. I'll tell you as a $600 adopter, the extras just ain't worth it. Shit, even the 20GB is more than enough at start. If I could go back, I'd do it that way.

They're going to have to do better than this to sell me a PS3, but it's a start. Drop into the 300s and we'll talk. I'm actually going to start buying PS3 games before I buy a PS3. I don't think I've ever done that with another console before... But I'm positive most of the games will drop in price before the system ever does.

I'm a huge Naughty Dog fan though, so I think once the PS3 is at the right price, there will be a dozen or so games worth owning.

I agree, the only reason I went $600 is because my whole special setup is wireless, yeah I could have added a bridge or 2, but the damage was already done.

I am not sure if any of the games will sell systems, but it will be a damn good autumn and winter for PS3 owners.

But who's to say the 20GB will be around come Christmas? Granted, I'd probably have to scour eBay for it.

And, again, even for $450 that's a lot of gaming to get out of 360, DS and PSP versus one game and one system from Sony. It's not much financial sense for me now.

Stupid Ratchet and Clank! lol

Well yeah. The actual time of purchase is up to you. Hopefully the option will still be available to you when you're ready. I don't regret paying the big 6 simply so I don't have to sit and contemplate over 30 different SKU's to be honest. Such bullshit really.

I agree though, visually from the little cinematic scenes we've seen of lair, it looks pretty good. The gameplay...well... it just doesn't seem all that fun. Definitely a gamefly for me though.

Oh I've been curious about something. Do you need to have played the other ratchets to get what's going on in this one? I never got around to the old ones but I want to give this a spin.

You know, from the last time when platformers effected console sales meaningfully.

Interesting to see how a game totally geared towards a youth audience does in sales when the entry price is only for adults.

Insomniac, thanks for the nice try, but you fucked up your scheduling. My birthday is four days before the R&CF release date. Now, what you need to do to make this right is push the release date up a bit.

This is the first PS3 game (and only one in the near future) that I really REALLY want to play but I can't justify the cost of the system for it. Hopefully by next fall there is a more compelling line up.

Pixar movies are filled with the same kind of jokes. You can't say that this game isn't aimed at the youth market... I'm sorry.

Plus, since this game releases in 2 months, it should be feature complete and in it's final testing stages.

I'm playing a R&C game for the first time on the PSP and at first I didn't like it but it's growing on me. Is the gameplay in the PSP version similar to other R&C games because it's a little repetitive (although the cut scenes and Clank keep me coming back)?

It's similar, but fairly simplified. At least from what I could tell of the demo, I haven't gotten around to getting the full game yet. The camera control drove me friggin' nuts in the demo. Talk about not designing a game with the platform you're releasing it on in mind.

I'd be SLIGHTLY skeptical, if only that they haven't made a game since their President(and co-founder) left in 04 (cept Jak X: Combat Racing). I don't see any reason to say it WILL happen, but look at what happened to Rare when their top leadership left. It is within the realm of possibility.

Yeah, I guess that's possible, but they've gotten some pretty good press on Uncharted (as far as E3 impressions and the like), so I'm not too worried. I know, that has to be taken with a grain of salt at this point, but it just looks like the kind of game that I'd personally love.

I'm just saying that I'd be a bit skeptical of their track record, as the company has shaken up somewhat. In no way will that prevent it from being a good game, though.

Oh, I know, I'd just wonder how hands on he really was. Of course he'd have an impact, but the director of the game should be more influential than anyone else. I'm just hoping that the rumored next Jak game still gets made, I can't get enough of quality platformers.

Damn...I still haven't played a Rachet & Clank game, and I want to try one but...this holiday is a cash raping season. I just bought Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and Super Paper Mario, and then there's Metroid Prime 3, Bioshock, Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Heavenly Sword, Rock Band, and GH 3 (as much as I despise most of the GH 3 song listing and indifferent to much of the Rock Band song listing). This holiday cramming for games is really hurting potential purchasing for me.

You can still rent consoles from Blockbuster, right? I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped doing that, considering the gargantuan costs of console hardware nowadays. And especially considering you basically hafta install everything now, so sharing systems with the average BB customer is an invitation to reformatting/fucking up a fragile HDD, costing the rentee headaches and hassles galore.

But I went and piqued my own curiousity. Anybody hear of any 'try before you buy' console deals for the next-gen as of yet? Aside from the "my friend got one yesterday, so I'm borrowing it for a week since he owes me $50"-story.

Aaron's has the 360 (http://www.shopaarons.com/sa/default.aspx?PID=711&SCID=72&tabid=227) and Rent-A-Center has the 360, PSP and PS2. (http://www6.rentacenter.com/site/page/as29-pg4284.html) ColorTyme lists older systems like GameCube, Xbox, PS2 and PSP. (http://www.colortyme.com/shop.aspx)

So to answer your question: Yes. At least as far as the 360 goes, it seems.

Perfect. My roomate inherited a bunch of 360 games from his brother, who's stationed in Iraq right at the moment (he kept the actual system up at the base, though.)

I'll be looking into these programs, just to see what the grass is like in the other yard.

Just be careful, though. If you use them to Lease to Own you end up paying far more than the system is worth. FYI.

Really, all I meant to say was that some kiddo comes in here and the most he has to contribute is "this game sucks" without reason or explanation makes him difficult to take serious. Whether he's yellow, orange, red, whatever.
