Pariah focuses on a robust immersive storyline that weaves survival elements into the traditional run-and-gun style of first-person action games.
Jack Mason is a burned-out doctor with no will to live, that is, until he nearly dies in a transport crash. Now he and his infected patient are stranded deep within the most vicious prison sectors of a wasteland called 'Earth'. In sixteen hours an orbital platform will initiate a total biohazard containment procedure: 50-megaton yield, detonated above sea level, to cleanse the contamination.Digital Extremes has released an updated Pariah singleplayer demo allowing you to try out 1 mission from the full game.
You can grab the Pariah demo (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=26604) (250mb) off WorthPlaying
I enjoyed the game, although found it a surprisingly short. They could have done a lot more with the characters than they did - perhaps Pariah 2?

Was pretty excited about it till I played the multiplayer demo for it a while back. All interest was lost after that point. Felt a lot like a poorely made version of Unreal Tournament 2004.

Too bad there isn't a good story. What story there was was really clunky IMHO.
I don't recall the last time I was that bored with a game. And don't get me started on the horrid vehicle controls...

Why do demos come out AFTER the games now? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of enticing gamers to purchase before it hits stores?
Oh, right...that's what bittorrent is for. (rolls his incredulous eyes)

played the full game.. half-assed/average at best, wouldn't recomend it to anyone.
LoL this game is anything but immersive when it comes to storyline. The voice overs are over acted like dakota fanning in war of the worlds ;).
Yawn... it's like a ut2004 mod.
Demos come out after the game nowadays because they're just trying to pick up the sales they didn't initially get. Publishers realize they don't need to "sell" to the hardcore on the net anymore. We're probably just going to pirate the thing, anyway, so why bother?

It felt sloppy to me.
Weapons seemed to do no damage to anything. Crosshairs were huge! It felt like playing a console FPS...

I second that. I'm still working on my "Play and review all FPS games"-project for those that still remember (28 games and still counting), and I've played some crappy games, but this one really pissed me off. It felt like Red Faction 2 with their HUGE crosshairs, except that the guns did no damage at all, the story wasn't even remotely exciting and for some odd reason I had a hard time spotting enemies. Now Im all in favor for playing a game where the enemies are camuflagued - it makes it all exciting, but when then you can't have the enemy spot you from miles afar. Either it's a sneaker or a run-n-shoot, combining it is hard and I feel that this was a failed attempt. Gonna put this on the shelf and give it a good go later. Much later. Maybe the game gets better after the first few levels Ive tried.
