EA announced today that our favorite bald villain will be the focus of the first expansion for Command & Conquer 3. (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6176636.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;0)
After a fair amount of on-camera hamming, the Battlecast's hosts used the program to announce Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, the first expansion pack to the popular Electronic Arts game. Due out early next year it will focus on the titular villain, who leads the shadowy, quasi-religious global corporate-military organization known as the Brotherhood of Nod.
Actor Joe Kucan gets his Kane on.
"It's all about Kane," one of the anchors proclaimed. "It chronicles his rise back to power after the second Tiberium War and continues all the way through C&C3." The expansion will also take the player through the third Tiberium War and beyond, and will feature actor Joe Kucan reprising his role as Kane.

This is good news. I guess that CEO really did kick EALA back into shape. There's still a lot of plot that needs to be taken care of. Cabal, Tacitus, the Forgotten, etc.
But all the way 'through' C&C3? Sooo a prequel? Then what fighting will there be? And what about the Scrin?
If they're starting over, then good.

Sounds like a combination of Firestorm and Zero Hour...except the original product is a huge trainwreck. I'll pass.

Apparently, this expansion will make its way to Xbox 360 with improved controls by use of a new unit selection menu that relies more on the analog stick and less on the d-pad - a so-called "radial" system.

Looking good!

Wah? I really enjoyed C&C3. And I even played it on the 360 as opposed to the PC.

Honestly? If you can stomach playing any RTS with a control pad then my comments aren't really relevant for you. :D

Would you really buy this knowing what you do now about EA???

I'll buy a product from EA, knowing I'm helping out the devs behind it. It's really voicing your opinion that could change the way they suck. With new leadership, they've been actually listening to the fans the last couple of months and admitted their failure...that's a good sign.
EA makes highly produced yet mediocre games. It's not always the fault of the dev, but always speak up about issues you have. This same advice applies in life.

While I also prefer mouse / keyboard for RTS, I thought C&C 3 was still pretty playable on the 360 and really enjoy it.
Simply because the game doesn't feel as easy or natural on a controller doesn't mean developers should just say "fuck consoles" when it comes to the genre. I applaud them for continuing to try to come up with a decent workaround within their limitations.

Do the extra question marks make your question less meaningful to me? Yes...yes they do.

Well, to be fair, the console versions are limited even more. They changed the balance and added a unit cap. Harvesting has a slightly different system too. But if you don't mind a modified game, then yeah, it plays great.

I really don't like the semi-religious aspects of the brotherhood, I miss the beret-wearing political terrorists Nod of the first C&C.

Was not aware of this but am not terribly surprised. If the balancing makes for better console play, then great! Modified doesn't mean inferior, just different. I don't expect the versions to be identical.
Now if this meant they seriously gimped or gutted aspects of the game, I'd be annoyed.

But will it make the Nod Avatar any more useful in game?
Probably not

Was the question directed at you? No...no it was not.
