The end of one week inevitably brings with it the beginning of yet another one, but no week would be truly complete without a roundup of the previous week's news. Here, then, is that roundup.
EA (Electronic Arts, not EvAv) sent shivers down the spine of many when it was revealed that the gaming behemoth had bought more Ubisoft shares (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33988), sending their total investment to 25%!
The worst kept secret in videogames (with the exception of the PS3 price drop) was officially unveiled (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33895), with a surprise twist (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34000)!
Speaking of secrets, videogames, and the PS3, Circuit City this week subpoenaed Cheap Ass Gamer (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34074) for information on the now-legendary speedy1961. Why? Oh, because speedy had the temerity to let Sony's cat out of the bag in advance of Sony themselves doing so! Here's a clue to speedy's identity - clue (http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Media/Pix/gallery/2005/09/23/McD3.jpg)!
Moving on from clueless corporate shenanigans, Midway released a demo of Stranglehold on Xbox Live Marketplace (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33963), much to my enjoyment.
The Halo 3 hype is about to get a whole lot more pervasive (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34029).
Another stupid anti-gaming law gets canned, this time in California (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33884).
Sounding more like a pervert's wet dream than anything to do with gaming, I give you Pre-Teen Raider (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34021)!
Already shaping up to be 2007's game of the year, BioShock went gold this week (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34068), while Irrational Games was assimilated by 2K Games and now should be referred to as 2K Boston (http://www.2kboston.com/) or 2K Australia (http://www.2kaustralia.com/).
Back to legal matters now, and news that Epic has requested the suit filed against them by Silicon Knights be dismissed (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34037). Then promptly counter-sued (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34076)!
Microsoft and Electronic Arts continue to trade executives (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34003) like nervous teens trading saliva during their first kiss.
Age of Conan is delayed till 2008 (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34079).
And that just about does it for another week. This week's roundup has been brought to you by eight cans of Tecate (http://cervezatecate.com/) and Tiger Woods (http://www.tigerwoods.com/defaultflash.sps), who today won his 13th major! Special negative mention has to go to Woody Austin for being a fucking crybaby!
