Gamecloud has posted a chat (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=624) with members of Ritual talking about SiN Episodes, their upcoming episodic continuation of the 1998 first person shooter.

We are targeting a sub $20 price point for Sin Episodes: Emergence.Hedging their bets I see. They are going to see how well the price is taken for the first episode and adjust it for the next if they need to. :p
I went and leafed through the PCG article just now at WH Smith's: it looks OK, but could be better. The model and texture detail is nice but there were only one or two shots that weren't drab grey and lacking in visual interest. Early days...

Without a publisher, they better have good in-house QA or the gamers are gonna riot!
BTW, Levelord is a big sicko! :D

I love how the idea of waiting for all the episodes to be released in a collection is considered to be "For cheapos." Yeah, because disliking the idea of paying $20 for 6 hours of gameplay is cheap on my part. Guess what? That is only a slightly better value than watching a movie in theaters. One of the greatest points of gaming is how good a value it is supposed to be.

I've never heard that.I mean, you can hope that a game will work out to a great dollar per hour of fun ratio, but its never been standardized. Plus, 10 bucks for a two hour movie in my town is a totally different experience than playing xbox live. A movie in front of a giant screen is so immersive sometimes that the quality shits all over video games.
With as much time as i spend playing halo 2 on live it probably has a .5 cent for every hour of time spent playing ratio. But that doesn't mean that because of that ratio its better than anything else. I mean fuck, I spend half my time waiting for matchmaking to finish so that a 12 year old can tell me he fucked my sister.

Work out the hours per dollar for your favorite FPS game. SiN is 0.3, is there much difference?

I guess I am selfish, but I want a better ratio! I want games that have twenty hours main-line stories and then hundreds of hours worth of side-line possibilities. Oh wait, GTA exists... and last I checked were quite profitable.

Oh no! Look out! Can our fragile society endure another riot by the ever influential gamer community?
