Universe at War: Earth Assault features large-scale environmental destruction in a persistent world – level a city and when you come back, the area will still be a smoking ruin. Here, though, the environments you are fighting for are close to home, as you wage war across familiar Earth landmarks and cities.
The entire globe is at your command, as you manage resources, armies, and territories in the real-time strategic mode. As your heroes lead your forces into enemy territory, you will be taken into fast-paced tactical battles where the emphasis is on combat and action. A seamless integration of both the strategic and tactical mode allows you to call in reinforcements from other territories while engaged in ground warfare and take tactical troops back to the strategic level when you win so you can use them in later battles.
Think you had a rough week at work? Well check out teaser trailer and see what a rough week would really be like if giant alien war machines were to land on Earth hell bent on eradicating human life as we know it.

It's hard to get any sort of decent impression from this trailer. It's harder still to believe that the release date is set for October 2007! There's a beta test scheduled for August 15th, which I've already signed up for, so I'll be sure to keep you posted on how it plays.

Where the fuck did this come from? Sounds amazing yet I have seen no coverage. And October 2007? This teaser looks more like the kind of thing we get a year or two before the actual release of a game. Off to find more info...
EDIT: It is an RTS, a genre I have unfortunately never enjoyed. Still sounds great, but Game Rankings lists only 15 articles. So still, WTF is up with the lack of coverage so close to release?

Wewbite shows some screens. Units look great, but the envorinments are a bit bland. A bit like supreme commander without the thousands of units (and without the hyperzoom view which makes the whole game look like a pda:P).
The trailer doesn't really look like the game though.

I know I say this a lot, but this is just another RTS to file into "Not Opposing Fronts."

Too true. I think that's the only RTS I'm even considering purchasing in the next 6 months.

Where the fuck has everyone been? This game has been known about for quite sometime...it's by Petroglyph/Westwood Studios and is the spiritual successor to Tiberian Sun.
This site disappoints sometimes.

There's some in-engine stuff going around, I'm not sure why they're bothering with this CG video.

Man, when I saw the CG trailer I was really excited. Then I saw the game videos at IGN... meh... after Company of Heroes, I'm finding it really hard to get excited about what appears to be another run of the mill RTS.

Check out Company of Heroes, I was completely burnt out on RTS's, but CoH really blew me away.

Universe at War: Earth Assault is not run of the mill. Here is a recent article (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/universeatwarearthassault/news.html?sid=617653) on the game from Gamespot who had a chance to try out the game first hand:
Unlike many RTS games, where each faction has very similar units and buildings, Universe at War seems to use a more Starcraft-like design ethos, in that each of the three races is completely different than the others, and each seems to require different tactics and strategies to win. It makes for an interesting multiplayer environment, to say the least.

That was Killzonetastic!!!
Why not show what the real game looks like. By the way, its sad, but anything that has the SEGA logo attached to it scares me these days. They used to know there stuff....Though I did like Otogi, Panzer Dragoon Orta and Gunvalkyrie. But some of the others were god awful....

Petroglyph’s next project; Universe at War: Earth Assault, is an epic sci-fi RTS set on near-future Earth. Terrible and potent alien forces have brought their galaxy-spanning war to our planet’s doorstep.
Save the world or destroy it as you take charge of several unique factions with awesome powers and spectacular units. Control massive-scale alien war machines that are fully customizable. With on-the-fly tactical customization, you can dynamically swap out weaponry, rework your tech tree, and retrain units in the middle of combat to thwart your foe and seize the advantage. This advance on the traditional rock-paper-scissors model of balance gives players even more control over how they respond and adapt to their opponent’s strategies.

Universe at War: Earth Assault features innovative new multiplayer features inspired by today’s top MMOs and competitive online environments, giving players achievements, rewards, and medals but in a balanced environment. Each of the game’s factions will have unique paths to victory with completely different styles of play, allowing players from across the globe to battle it out in persistent-style online “campaigns” for ultimate faction supremacy.
Partial Feature List:
· On-the-fly customization lets you adapt dynamically to your opponent, raising the stakes of battle
· Unique multiplayer achievements and modes that are new to the RTS genre
· Environmental destruction and manipulation in a persistent world
