The Gamerscore Blog (http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2007/08/06/552448.aspx) has the scoop on this Wednesday's arcade release. Konami's classic title, Track and Field will be hitting for 400 MS Points.
# Authentic original gameplay of the arcade classic
# Up to 4 player gameplay over Xbox LIVE Arcade
# Players can chose to play with either the authentic original graphics or the enhanced graphics including new sprite, backgrounds and special effects
# Original arcade split screen multiplayer allows up to 4 players to compete at once
# Xbox LIVE Versus Mode allows up to 4 players to compete online

I was never a huge fan of this game. Anyone plan on snagging this?

This could be the game to break my XBLA virginity. It's a classic!

Wow. I guess it's a slow week at the XBLA certification office?

I think I'll save my controllers from the A/B button mashing that goes on with Track and Field.

Pass.

Next to the upcoming XBLA arcade list in another post this is utter crap. Ugh, why not release good arcade games in the summer and shit like this when Bioshock hits.

If you mash the A button does it download faster?

Where is my turbo button when I need it? Or for those used to the arcade, you do the left leg and I'll do the right. Pass for me.

No, no, no. I abuse my controllers enough as it is.

This would be killer on a DDR dance pad... though I don't think anyone can run in place fast enough to beat the computer opponents.

Have to agree with the generally negative comments. I don't think this game will be worth my cash.

What is the point without the power pad?

Are there people who found this game "fun" even with the pad?
Don't get me wrong, it's old school, and it was an early attempt at being innovative.

What it ended up with is button mashing...with your feet. Meh.

I remember beating T&F...but I had to use my hands. :D

These are the three I'm really looking forward to. Geon: Emotions looks awesome and as long as the gameplay holds up to the visuals, it should be great.

I have beaten Puzzle Quest on the DS but would love to play it on my big ol' TV (with achievements!).

Space Giraffe looks like it could be XLBA's answer to Rez.

Oops - sorry about that, Johan! Sorry about the Blue Text too - now I can't get it to change back to white when I try to edit it.

I too will take a pass on this one. I played the original arcade machine once and that was enough.

Is this the same Track & Field that I used to play on the C64 back in the day? Or am i thinking of Summer Olympics?

Power Pad ftw. That's what the 360 needs. A combo DDR/Power Pad.

I'm just hoping that this week will have a double hit like last week - cause T&F is not on my 'buy' list.

Compared to some of the titles up there, Track and Field just seems a bit of a let down. I had been really hoping for Streets of Rage 2 this week, but now I think I'm even more excited about Space Giraffe using Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds as my custom soundtrack.

I have to say when you are hammered and you have 3 friends over it is great to see tempers flare and drunk people mashing the wrong buttons the whole race until they notice they have lost.. It has great gameplay but you need to have some poeple to laugh at the game is very bland button mashing if not.

I can see that, but I'd rather plonk down more money and take up much more of my hard drive with the Decathelete series from the Saturn.
