TalkXBox (http://www.talkxbox.com/article1273.html) has a picture of the XBox 360 development kit.
Looks almost half as thin as a regular XBox...but a little longer.

In fact, it looks just like the 360 itself! Who would have thought, eh? ;)

Things to notice are the black coloring for it, which may mean that Microsoft may offer multiple colors at a point in time?
Or could it possibly be the default color of the plastic used for the case?

No kidding. Development kits are often different colours than their retail counterparts - just look at the XBOX kit sitting beside the 360 one.

theres some sort of contraption attached to the top end of the case...any ideas what it is? Looks sorta like the cover of a microphone (the steel grating, not the foam).

I prefer the PS3 devkit, because it is a wee bit larger than most NYC apartments.

uhm ventilation? perhaps they haven't got the airflow completely worked out. i doubt it's some special surprise they haven't mentioned.

Thinking it might be an adapter for the devs to use regular height hard drives while developing, but who knows?

That is what I heard -- they were using 3.5inch drives instead of 2.5inch on the dev kits. Which makes sense... There is no reason to use expensive 2.5inch on a dev kit when physical size doesn't matter in development environments.

Especially since 2.5 inch drives are so slow and would be a pain in the ass to use for development.
Wish I had a 360 dev kit on my desk. I've only got an Xbox one. Dang... so last year.

Also, the wired controller for obvious development practical reasons as a wireless controller would be very annoying for them.
wait what? how could that possibly be annoying for anyone...
