GamesIndustry (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/) has posted an interview (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=9955) with Vivendi Universal Games' president Phil O'Neil and his plans to turn their upcoming titles Scarface and 50 Cent into ongoing franchises.

They really must think they've got some winners there or they like to take risks.

Both of these will sell on the strength of the title/outrage from the press alone. However, I think it's a tad too early to be talking Scarface 4 at this stage.

Actual quote:

“We’ve got 50 Cent, G-Unit, Eminem, Dr. Dre, action, girls, guns, freesyles, music, and videos. If this doesn't sound good to you...shit, keep your money then.”
- Producer Andre Emerson

Thanks, I will.

They would have to pay me to play either of these games. There are enough wannabe gangsta thugs out there these will probably sell.

50 cent game? why the hell would a richboy music artist be the hero of an action game?????

Well you can see right now that every single review for this game will be paid for in triplicate in that case.

50 cent is a shitty rapper, if he took himself less seriously, maybe if he acted like the joke he really is, then he'd at least be like the Weird Al of rap although his songs are already pretty funny.

Could be that some people will think the games are good because they announce plans for sequels, could be that practically every game developed has sequels planned, doesn't mean it's successful enough to get them.

And what, then, is your definition of music? Also, why is your definition the correct one?

50 Cent 2: The Quest for Bling. I'm thinking it'll be a 3D Platformer on the Revolution.

I'm pretty sure rap is music.

Sure it is. It's just really, really lame music for morons who think that a city like L.A. is 'dangerous' and that you have to be 'h4rd' to live there.

i think this is the perfect oppurtunity for everyone here at Evil Avatar to shit on rap. I want everyone to chime in now, tell us what you really think of "fitty" and the vast majority of popular rap... for lack of a better word... music. oh and if you doooo like rap, well, condolences

Raps fucking great. Unlike some of the stuck-up douche-containers on this forum, rap is fun. Sometimes its not very deep, but christ, I can't listen to whiny alt-rock all day. Shitting on it and saying it is not music is just a sad attempt to try and dodge being labeled mainstream. Good job.

I see no conflict in listening to the Kings of Convenience and then switching midtrack to some Bone Thugs and Harmony.

I remember John Romero saying Daikatana 2 was already in development while they were still working on Daikatana. Heck if a developer does a sketch on a cocktail napkin in a bar that's a game "in development".

I am not a big fan of Rap music. I don't own any cd's performed by Rap artists. However I will say that as much as you all say "rap music sucks" look at current rock music. Its all super generic and lame. I honestly can't stand listening to the radio because 95% of the music sucks, and there are way to many commercials. It doesn't matter if I listen to the Rock, Rap, Country, or Western stations, its crap on all of them.

Basically, anything you hear on the radio is being marketed to you. The music you hear is being played because the record companies said "play this song", it was hand picked by their best marketing people to sell their cd to you. Its entirely possible you will not like any other song on the cd, but what do they care once you've bought it? Anyways, that sums up my "all music on radio/mtv sucks shutup already" rant.

Exactly what I think. there are some good tunes, but I say I find one album a year, from any genre that I can listen to the whole album. in 2003\04 it was Evanescence. This year so far it's Ciara (sp).

It's hilarious for EA users to attempt to discuss music. When the topic is video games, we're god damn geniuses, but when the topic turns to music, we're suddenly eating Gilbert Grape. "Uh...the uh...beats...and rhythms, of course...are pleasing to...ahhhh...God damn, I sure liked Shenmue."

They're planning to turn Scarface into a franchise? What's the second game going to be about? What Tony is thinking about as he plummets into the fountain?

"I love you like a fat kid love cake"

Or, they are out of good ideas and need to fall back on lisences instead.

What happened to that other Scarface game? You know, Vice City.

Also, on the rap subject. I hate gangsta rap, these rich guys talking about how hard life on the street is more than a bit hypocritical.

I read somewhere that the 50Cent game will chronicle his own life.

this makes me laugh. Watch the pre-rendered shittiness that is being called the trailer for the game.

I didn't know that as a ganster on the street he killed about a hundred buisness men
