From Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/29/3200-ms-points-for-20-at-circuit-city/) - good news for any XBL fans out there, cheap points. Today's Circuit City flyer shows (http://circuitcity.shoplocal.com/circuitcity/default.aspx?action=browsepageflash&storeid=2540186&pagenumber=22&rapid=429801&prvid=circuitcity-070729) that you'll save $20 on the purchase of two Xbox Live accessories $19.99 and up. This means that if you purchase two Xbox Live 1600 MS point cards at their $19.99 price, you'll get one of those for free. So, that's 3200 MS points for $20 -- we'll take it! We also called two separate Circuit Citys to confirm that the deal was accurate. That's right folks, half price MS points. Now excuse me, I have to hit the store.

Time to go to Circuit City! I go through points like candy because of sweet sweet XBLA games; I'll take any discount I can get!

Store locator for the product says sold out. Just my luck.

Yeah, these are almost assuredly sold out at your local CC by now. But if they're not, clean them out. XBLA games are already, IMO, very reasonably priced; cutting them all down to half is ludicrous. $5 for Bomberman!

Hmm, I just checked mine as well and all three CC's around me say they are sold out. That seems kind of strange; I think I'm going to go check it out and see for myself.

Is this an instore purchase only or is it online too?

In-store only.

I checked and the only stores around me who still have some are in Atlantic City. Of course if I go and they don't have any I could go gamble and pick up a hooker...looks like i'll be staying home and keep my money to myself.

Supposedly out of stock here too according to the store locator. But I agree with Camel, I'm going to go check out the store anyway.

EDIT: No luck. Looks like the internet doesn't ALWAYS lie.

Yeah, I just got back from trying to get some cards. The store about 5 minutes away, of course, had none, so I went to the one 20 minutes. Nothing. Well, got the week, anyway.

Unless you live very close to a CC, or buy a small bucket full of the cards (a large, bulk-oriented discount)...you're going to blow your savings on gas getting there and back! :D

It never ceases to amuse me how excited some get over saving a few cents on a gas station twenty miles out of the way...or ten or twenty bucks on a store that will take you seven dollars in gas and a few hours of your time to visit and return from (unless you're like Talanvor, and live five minutes from the store!)

I always factor into my thinking the "opportunity cost" (my time) and the "associated costs" (gas and the like) of attempting to save money on deals like this. Most of the time, it just isn't worth it.

Now, if I could pick up three or four of these cards (with three or four free), then "let's make a deal!" Alas...sold out is probably it. :(

I just checked out the CC by my house...barren wasteland unfortunately.

Just got back and got the last two at CC near me. THey didn't have the promo in their system, so it was a big ordeal to get them to honor the ad. But they did. Yay! :)

I don't see how these are half price. Wont they be 2/3rd price if you're talking about buy 2 get 1 free?

Isn't it free $20 with purchase of TWO items $20 and up. I make that out to be 1/3 off but I might be wrong.

I was actually succesful on this. My closest store was out of stock, but the one about twenty minutes away (and close to the place I wanted breakfast anyway) had them listed in stock on the website. I ordered them online at full price, and then when I went to pick them up, asked them to adjust the price according to the ad. So, I got 4 cards for $40.

People on the cheapassgamer forums have been having so-so success. Some CC's say you need to buy a system (some even say an Elite) in order for them to honor it. Some are even flat-out refusing the deal. This is showing up in the weekly circular, and even on large endcap posters in the gaming section.

Some people seem to be having pretty good success getting Best Buy to pricematch. Some of them are even having less hassle getting BB to pricematch than for CC to honor their own ad.

That would be my suggestion as well.

I'm stopping at Best Buy as I pass it tomorrow, returning from my final comprehensive oral exams (not dental exams! ;)).

I'm going to get three (hence, six) I think...

NOpe, when I got mine it was $20 off two items of $19.99 or more.

Circuit City was out in my neighborhood, BB wouldn't price match because CC was out of stock otherwise they would have.. Target doesn't price match, what other stores could I try? I'll check Frys tomorrow on my way home from work.

Oh yeah, but the opposite is true as well. We have a Chevron at the freeway access. It sells gas at $3.09 per gallon. There is a Pay&Save right next door that sells gas for $2.55. Yet the Chevron is always busy.

Wow, some Circuit Cities are apparently run by crooks. What kind of store doesn't have the product advertised in stock the very first day of a sale? How could they dare not honor the the deal printed in huge letters on their own endcap pointing right at the cash register? It's very clear what the deal is; it even has a picture of a $20 1600 point card on it.

I got up early this morning, bought what looked like the last four 1600 point cards at my more honest Circuit City and had no problem getting the discount. $80 of cards - $40 of discount = 50% off, by the way.

Went to my CC, they were out. Someone bought them all out, over the internet. I then just asked them to special order 4 for me. Cost my $40, but getting 6400 points. :-)

Hey shitcunt, don't call people morons because something is out of their control. I'm sure everyone in this thread wanted them to be out of stock!

Does Circuit City do rainchecks on temporary specials? Just curious.

Wal-Mart (at least the one I usually go to) will price match if you have an ad in hand. You need to do it at the checkout counter in the electronics section though. I've pricematched a couple of 360 games from Fry's ads. They have never called to check stock either.

hmmm it seems to me, someone mentioned that they had the store order additional cards... oh yea, it was me, second post. Do any of you actually read what was posted previously? I like the wal-mart idea, though.

Yes, I can confirm they do allow rainchecks. I have 6 of these on order for $60. Stock up for the future.

Yes, I can confirm my local CC does NOT allow rainchecks.

That crap about people being friendlier in the South? It's crap! :D

You know the answer to that, silly!

Seriously Johan? Wow, that blows, I went to 2 in MA without problems.

Seriously...really blows.

Probably a managerial decision, and not a corporate policy. :(

Glad for those that got it, though!

Edit: My local Wal-Mart refused to honor the deal. At first they said, "no...no buy-one-get-one-free is honored here." When I introduced them to the concept of reading comprehension, they proceeded to say, "well...we only charge $19.97 for our 1600 point cards, so no deal."

Bastards.
