Gamecloud has posted an article (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=558) talking with Pulse Interactive's Paul Trowe about the upcoming Mobile phone version of Quake 1.

The port of Quake Mobile is being created by developer Bear Naked Productions and Trowe said the final result will be the first ever Open GL based game on a mobile phone. As the screenshots that were released last week show, the game at least looks like the PC version of Quake. Don’t expect this game to work on your mobile phone, however. Trowe made it clear to Gamecloud that Quake Mobile is strictly for the next generation series of mobile phones with 3D graphics chips. Indeed Quake Mobile will debut in July not in the US but in Korea where it will be embedded in an upcoming next-generation mobile phone. No mobile phone Quake for you. Come back one year!

Nice Seinfeld reference.

Anyway, I never liked the way gaming felt on cell phones, the buttons were not made to be pressed quickly and they always had lethargic responses. I never knew why, all cell phone have some kind of delay to them when you hit the buttons.

The basic design of the cell phone needs to change before they can become viable game platforms. Not nGage change but theres a lot that can be tried that hasnt been.

Am I the only one who thinks Quake on a cell phone sounds unappealing?
