Gamespy (http://www.gamespy.com/) has posted their Top 25 Xbox Games of All Time (http://xbox.gamespy.com/articles/628/628679p1.html). In Evil's favorite category, "Point-and-Laugh", they laud Tony Hawk's Underground (http://xbox.gamespy.com/articles/628/628679p3.html) as the #24 choice:Hop onto Xbox Live and there's even more going on, with a handful of multiplayer modes so you can bitchslap the punks on the other end of the Ethernet cable. The online part of the game has never been huge -- this ain't Halo 2 -- but it's in there for whenever you want to see how your moves stack up.Funny, not much is going on when I try to play THUG on Live. Good to see that Gamespy is keeping up the lofty standards of internet video game journalism. Thanks to -Never4ever- in the Cheapassgamer forums. Well that's just classic! Someone really needs to take a huge club and beat the living shit out of the author. Anyone worth a crap knows that THUG is not now, nor will ever likely be, on Xbox Live.

Where the fuck is Panzer Dragoon Orta? That game belongs in the top 5.

Burnout 3 above Halo.
Ninja Gaiden above Halo.
Shenmue II and Panzer Dragoon Orta are nowhere to be found.
Soul Calibur II? Soul Calibur dick.
Madden is on the list. Goddamn MADDEN.
Sorry, I'm just annoyed. I don't know what I was expecting, though...it's Gamespy. I haven't even touched them since the Halo 1 tunneling days.

For Madden (#16) they have a picture from ESPN :D

Personally I would have put KOTOR above Halo 2, god I loved that game.

What do you mean? The list only lists one game from any given franchise. So with Halo 2 at #1, Halo 1 doesn't take a spot on the list.
Shenmue II and Panzer Dragoon Orta are nowhere to be found.
I feel you there, especially Panzer Dragoon Orta (though I might have enjoyed Shenmue a bit more, I understand Shenmue is flawed and can understand it being left off the list).
And the ESPN screenshot for Madden is HILARIOUS.

Well, they fixed the Madden picture. THUG correction is probably coming soon...

What you talking about willis? Halo is #6. After the last 4 game of the years gamespy's lists are either made by complete idiots or they are being paid to arrange them in the most profitable order.

Burnout 3 above Halo.
Ninja Gaiden above Halo.
I agree with both of these.

My list would be different. But notable absences for me are:
Metal Arms
Full Spectrum Warrior
RalliSport
Conker
Ghost Recon 1 (ugly, but awesome gameplay)

What a horrid bloody list.
No Panzer Dragoon Orta, No Rallisport Challenge, No Jet Set Radio Future, etc, etc... yet they include THUG?!?!?! I mean come on...

was it me or did every game on that list have a gun or fast car? Kidding.
I'm being overly critical and unfair. I enjoy my Xbox but maybe the 360 will have some more Japanese flair. A game like ICO would be sweet. Phantom Dust is the closest thing to innovative I can think of for the Xbox (in terms of a newish style of gameplay) and it wasnt even on the list.
Is there a 25 PS2 games of all time? Gamecube?

Are there even 25 games out for the Cube? Lets be realistic now....

Ah yes, Gamespy. The bastion of top notch videogame journalism.
EDIT: Atleast they got Psychonauts on the list.

C'mon. I was hard pressed to think of 25 Xbox games, too. At least, exclusives. Fable is one, but if that is one of the 3 best RPG's on the system (with the overrated Jade Empire as #18) then that doesnt say too much about Xbox's RPG library. Where's Morrowind? It's not an exclusive, but the GOTY edition should have been on there...it's better than Fable and JE surely.
Almost every one of the Gamecube's 1st party titles is worth being on any top 20 list, even when looked at OVERALL, not just by individual console. Also, RE 4 would surely be in the top 5. But once again, the RPG lineup isnt too great for the Gamecube. The ones that it does have are excellent, though.
But yes, I know this is Gamespy. They know as much about gaming as TrackZero knows about vagina...and that's nearly nothing. (KIDDING!! HAHA!)

FYI the new Tony Hawk game will be on Live(Xbox/Xbox 360). However unless it features 64 players per city I won't bite.

This list has now been invalidated. Move along people, nothing to see here.

Even after I double-checked, I still managed to miss that. I don't know how. Good catch. :)

Well neither the PS2 or the GCN have RPGs so the Xbox RPG library is the strongest of the consoles.
(No Final Fantasy, etc are not RPGs regardless of how much lazy reviewers wish to categorise them as such) :P

Exactly! They are J-RPG's, glorified fluff wrapped around pre-rendered CGI movies! I mean honestly, where is the roleplaying in those games, where do I get to decide the course of events in a linear J-RPG?
I mean, I like -some- of them (Suikoden is one of my favorite series of all time) but they still aren't RPG's.

If those PS2 games arent RPGs then the Xbox ones certainly arent either.
Fable is an action-adventure, JE is basically the same, and Kotor is nearly as linear as any J-RPG.
Anyway you slice it, RPG's on the consoles are defined differently.
RPG fans might also want to check out Morrowind. The controls are frustrating and the pace is slow (it didn't make our list for a reason), but from a standpoint of "stuff to do" it offers a lot
The pace is slow? Did these idiots even play morrowind?
A pox on your family, gamepsy.

I never understood what was so interesting about multiplayer with only different colored skins.

Quake's multiplayer is still tits.

They're actually adventure games, admittedly with a lot of mini games added on :). Those that mourn the death of the adventure genre really aren't looking very hard.
Suikoden 2 is one of my favourite games of all time too!
