And the beat goes on in the casual gaming market. PopCap, they of Bejewled fame, has acquired gaming portal SpinTop. From Next-Gen (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6445&Itemid=2).
This new acquisition adds SpinTop’s online consumer portal, existing games catalog, and Vancouver-based development house to PopCap’s assets. SpinTop will be continue to be managed by its co-founders, Craig Hamilton and Duncan Magee.

"We're happy to be adding SpinTop's strong roster of casual games, a Vancouver studio and a direct-to-consumer portal to our existing business," PopCap CEO David Roberts said regarding the deal. "The acquisition provides new publishing opportunities for SpinTop's games, and strengthens a distribution partnership we established with SpinTop last year." Is 2007 going to be the Year of the Casual Gamer?
