Reggie gave some nice information to the interviewers from Electronic Gaming Monthly for this month's issue. The conversation centered mostly on Revolution and Wi-Fi online play, but also included discussion on GameBoy Micro and DS. Reggie even had some choice words for the competition.

Interesting comment he made about the micro's pricing. I wonder how low they can sell that thing for?

Awesome, now when can someone kick this guy's ass?

From what I understand; Mr. Iwata, Nintendo's president, kicked Reggie's ass at Super Smash Bros: Meele. 'Course, it helps that Iwaata headed the team that MADE Super Smash Bros. ;-)

Despair thy charm;
And let the angel whom thou still hast served
Tell thee, Ken Katarugi was from his mother's womb
Untimely ripp'd!
KATARUGI slays FILS-AIME. Exeunt.

I'm pretty sure Kutaragi is a Sony Cyborg sent back from the future. The present lacks the tools to repair him, and thus his logic and metaphor algorithms haven't been properly caliberated. (Note: "exeunt". Very nice touch.)
Anyway, good interview. I think Reggie makes a good face for Nintendo. I question his claim that Nintendo Wi-Fi is somehow a major change and improvement over the Sony ad hoc method, but we'll see.

Well, I hope that nintendo's online play is easier and more fun than Son'y Pai-In-The-Ass ad hoc method with the PSP. Also, text entry should be better with the DS using an on-screen keyboard. The one on the PSP downright sucks. Also if they implement some kind of VOIP solution for games using the DS it would downright rock! Can't do that easily on a PSP either.

My post was a Shakespeare reference to Macbeth. But I think you may be right about Katarugi.
Anywho, I've been a die-hard Nintendo fan since I was a small child, but even I'm starting to roll my eyes at the "three-pronged attack" Nintendo is talking about. If they're aiming for cross-platform capability (between Rev, DS, and Micro), how successful will that be, at least in Europe/US?
How well did any game sell with GBA connectivity being a major factor? Four Swords/Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, aside -- how many other games sold extra units because somebody wanted to hook his GBA up?

I'm tending to agree with you, but I have to respect Nintendo for sticking with their guns here. They may not have the biggest market share, but they are consistantly making money while both Sony and Microsoft are losing it due to fighting for said market share...so for now it seems they are at least reaching the people they need to.
However, I wonder how long that will keep up before Nintendo alienates too many people with their strategies.

I was complementing you on your word choice in your stage directions.
Anyway, I don't think Nintendo is focusing on connectivity between their systems. What they mean is that each system has its own strengths. The DS is completely different than any other system out there, the GBA is inexpensive, very portable, and very pick-up-and-play, and the Rev is... ?
It's like comparing a iBook, a PowerBook and a PowerMac. Different strengths.
As to the connectivity, it wasn't popular, but it did provide some completely different play experiences. At this point, there is absolutely nothing like Four Swords available cheaper.
