In Desert of Flames, the first retail expansion pack for EQ2, players will experience exciting gameplay-changing features and can explore never-before-seen areas filled with new quests, monsters, and loot. Desert of Flames is centered around the newly discovered, vibrantly colorful city of Maj'Dul.

Frankly, it still looks terrible.
Hey, its the original everquest, but with hideous shiny bumps on everything.
Ah, the march of technology.
Not too impressed with the graphics, especially with all the shots of the nextgen stuff floating around (and the fact that WoW looks considerably better hurts, too)... I guess it would have been better if they had at least turned on anti-aliasing - those look like they were rendered on a GF2 with all the jaggies!

If you've seen screenshots of the asian version of EQII, you'd know it's not the engine's fault. It was the artists who dropped the ball on this one. Pretty sad too... they should really just take all of the art from the asian version and port it over to the US/European versions.

Well, the texturing sucks, but at least they have some art direction now.

When the 'asian' models are fully done they will be usable by other versions of EQ2.

Yup, I'll still have to say it's nothing to write home about. Thoroughly disappointing. And I'll agree that WoW looks better as well. It's just more imaginative. Vanguard blows this out of the water. I'll say it again: Vanguard can't get here soon enough.
