Not the game - the comics!
Viewable in all Steam accounts (no purchase required), a brand new installment of Penny Arcade will be posted every other day, providing a thrice-weekly dose of one of today's most popular Webcomics to over 13 million around the world. You can find them by visiting the Store through the client (steam://store/) and scrolling to the bottom of the page. Presumably there will be a more accessible system someday.

Wow, congrats to them. Of course this will only serve to increase their audience and thus the load on their servers. Grats to them nonetheless.

So did PA take down their page? Part of the reason I go their page is to read their commentary, not just look at the comic. I guess this is good for them, but I'll take my PA straight from the web, thanks.

I imagine that in the future the game could come out on the Steam platform.

Duh, of course not.

The big appeal of penny arcade for me at least, are the front page posts, not so much the comic.
I wonder whats the advantage of starting up steam, taking ages to navigate to the comic, instead of just opening your browser... and clicking on the penny arcade bookmark.

Duh, thanks for missing the sarcasm. ;)

I think the idea is that Steam is there anyway. They do need a better way of accessing the pages though.

Sorry, why wouldn't I just go to the website? I don't see any advantage here.

Because you are an under-educated Counter-Strike player that has never heard of Penny Arcade. All you know how to do is pwn noobs, but since you were checking out the store the other day and saw this cool comic, you find yourself looking back at the store every few days to read said comic while you wait for your clan to show up for practice.

I also do not get it.
I don't see how it helps anyone to have a poor interface to access freely available bits from the interweb. I can only imagine it will pave the way to for-pay PA goodies via Steam. But I don't understand why you'd even 'release' such a trivial in-between step.

lol same here. So you have to boot up Steam, navigate through, scroll down and try to find the comic instead of just going to your PA bookmark and...it's right there.
Having a webcomic available via Steam, for me, makes very little sense in terms of convenience or exposure.
I'm thinking this might be free advertising for the Penny-Arcade game that i think is obviously going to be released on steam.
I'll still stick with going to the front page methinks.
I prefer the 4chan version.

I think it's fairly obvious that they will plan to charge "micro-payments" for their comics and this is just laying down the groundwork. Is it worth a quarter a comic to you? 1 quarter * 100,000 diehard fans and that's 25k every other day they could be making. Might even get them to produce one a day and clear half a million a month.

They have made fun of the micro payment method time and again in their editorials, especially CAD.
