Gamasutra has put up a great interview (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=14536) with LucasArts president Jim Ward and EA president Neil Young. It is a great read about the movie and game process and how they work together.

Young was asked about the differences between working with Peter Jackson for Lord of the Rings and Steven Spielberg on the Indiana Jones IP. Regarding Spielberg, he says:

"With Steven it’s very different. We’re creating things from scratch, going through the process of building an IP from scratch and making changes to gameplay or to accommodate story in some places to incorporate into the game. Steven really appreciates and understands our medium and does not want to do a movie game in the traditional sense of the word."

"He wants to capture what makes movies great and move the understanding of the narrative structure in our medium forward," Young added. "He feels he has something to contribute. There is no greater practitioner in that medium than someone like Steven Spielberg, and it's a great opportunity to work with someone of his caliber to do that. It’s a very different type of process than working with licensing."

It's a great read. Indy 4 and the new Indy game can't get here soon enough!

"LucasArts and EA presidents talk Indiana Jones and games."

I find it disconcerting when I see these two company names in the same title. :D

They're filming the new Indy movie in my home town of New Haven. Pretty wild, they recreated the streets the same way they looked in the 50's. I was gonna go down to try and be an extra, but I never got around to it.

I just watched Raiders last night...coincidence? Also, despite Lucasfilm's betrayal, I refuse to refer to the first film as 'Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Tim Buckley of Ctrl-Alt-Del said the same thing... perhaps you are the same person, as I have never seen the two of you in the same room at the same time.

Come to think of it... I've never seen Tim Buckley... and I really have no idea who you are. :D

What they should do is make another point-and-click adventure for this movie, like they did with the old ones. Preferably 2D.

The Fate Of Atlantis is still one of my favorite games of all time. The story was so good I thought it was actually better than the second Indy movie(but is that saying much?)

Without the second film, we wouldn't have this:

Don't worry, EA aren't coming anywhere near it. The game is internally developed at LucasAss.
