The boys over at Penny-Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com/) have sent out a press release saying that PAX Exhibitor space is SOLD OUT, tripling the amount of exhibitors from last year. At quick glance there appears to be triple the amount of exhibitors as well than there will be at the E3 Media Summit (http://www.e3expo.com) this year. "We thought that by tripling the available exhibitor space, we'd have enough room for everybody. I guess we were wrong." said Penny Arcade's director of sales, Mike Fehlauer. "We do our best to throw a kickass party for the gamer community, and so we're grateful--and relieved--that the response has been so positive. Exhibitors and attendees alike have decided that PAX is the show to attend; it's the only place where you'll find tabletop, console, and PC gamers and exhibitors--plus concerts, tournaments, panels, and freeplay--under the same roof, with no BS."
On the exhibit floor, PAX '07 attendees can expect to try their hands at yet-to-be-released games and products from exhibitors including Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts/Mythic, Harmonix, Foundation 9, Sierra/Vivendi Universal, Wizards of the Coast, NCSoft, Sabertooth Games, D3 Publishing, Telltale Games, the Behemoth, Namco-Bandai, Upper Deck, Wizkids, Atari, ArenaNet, Hothead Games, America's Army and Rockstar. (See below for a complete list of exhibitors this year) In addition to showing a multitude of pre-release games on its show floor, PAX offers attendees a host of game-related conference sessions, parties, concerts, tournaments and more!
Damn...and I was seriously considering a Evil Avatar table at PAX. The show is going to be an absolute blast!

Seems like PAX is going to fill a part of the gap E3 left... That's definitely not a bad thing. It's too bad i won't be able to go, but if this is a precursor for things to come, i'll definitely fly out for the next one.

Sounds like I wont be jumping off a bridge anytime soon unless Bungie is there.

Ah...so glad I'll be attending this year. What would it have taken to get an EvAv table there?

Capcom isn't there either it looks like. Kinda sad about that one.

I'm not sure. Basically I just wanted a place where people could come and log into EvAv and whatnot. Meet with the staff that was there. Hand out some free stickers or something. It wouldn't have to be a big table or area. I was willing to pony up some cash for it too.
Looks like it's too late now.

It's not just about the exhibitors you guys. Sure the exhibition is fun and all, but the concerts, the gaming areas and especially the round-table discussions and various Q&A sessions make PAX so very awesome each year.
Hell, it's only gotten better with every passing year. Every year I keep thinking I'm not going to be as excited for PAX as I was the previous year, but I really seem to be unable to get to that point.

Maybe they'd let you pay them to put up a little shack outside the front doors and give people "free stickers"...

Do what the PA guys used to do at E3, find a place to meet, like in the food court or something, and create an impromptu meeting. :-) I think they always got chased out, in the early days, so it ened up being more of a roving band of gamers, having a walking meet and greet. :-)

I'm popping my PAX cherry this year. I have no idea what to expect. I can tell you this though, I'm not going to the concerts and I have no desire to listen to the Star Trek blogging guy.

FUCK. I really, really wish I could go this year. But it's the same weekend as my sister's wedding.
Count me in for next year, for sure.

Well that's your choice, but I really do think you should give the concerts a chance. Not that there will be any shortage of people if you don't go, heh. The concerts have always been pretty packed, I don't expect this year to be the exception.

Hmmmmmm...
Judging by that List, I'd say in the near future PAX will eclipse the likes of old E3, and I dare I say it...maybe even Gencon in the near to come future.

Oh no, I'm not dogging on it or anything. I just don't have any interest in them. If the exhibit hall is closed during those times, I'll just give myself a tour of the city for a bit or just find my own thing to do, ya know?

When I met the PA folks 2 years back at the Baltimore Comic Con they mentioned they were thinking about bringing a PAX to the east coast "somewhere." I really hope that idea is still in the works. I'd drive to New York for PAX but flying/driving to Seattle is a bit much.

I would imagine that the idea is still in the works, but if you think about how much they've got going on throughout the year it'll probably take some time to fit PAX East into their schedule.
Honestly, if they make PAX itself big enough I don't really see why it wouldn't be worth flying to for some people who're interested in the event. I'm talking making PAX something worth the plane ticket there and back, something that PAX nearly is at this point anyhow.

I'm considering going this year. Heck, since I live here it's not like I have to go far. It's kind of weird that I haven't gone before actually....

Wow, looking at that list PAX has gained a noteable amount of credibility, which is amusing considering it was something two guys put together in a convention hall a couple years ago. I can't make it this year, as I already have travel/vacation plans booked for this summer, but maybe next year.
Sounds like I wont be jumping off a bridge anytime soon unless Bungie is there.
Did you notice that Microsoft was there?

no activision or THQ is surprising.

I'm still laughing that E3 basicly dismantled itself, because they said the developers didn't want a PAX-style convention....
Hey E3! YOU WERE WRONG!

I think the problem more was about the exhibitors complaining about having to spend a fuckton of money to out-do one another because it was a public exhibition essentially. With PAX the convention isnt solely about showing off new games, theres more than just smoke and mirrors.

So, does PAX have boobs or just nerds?.. I mean gamers.

Anybody else think this might actually be detrimental? I mean, PA loves it for raking in, but more booths = extreme crowds = lots of hype, stress and more bullshit.

I went two years ago, and it was packed. With the new convention center, and more booths...it should still be packed.
Sounds like a blast!

According to the ones that attended last year, PAX has no booth babes, which is great imo.
