In what is the most bizzarre piece in a collector's edition yet, Sierra Entertainment have announced that collector's edition for World in Conflict (http://www.worldinconflict.com/) will contain an actual piece of the Berlin Wall.
“In World in Conflict, the Berlin Wall isn’t dismantled in the name of global peace, it is obliterated by the collateral damage of the opening salvos of World War III. We are excited to offer gamers this exclusive opportunity to grab this piece of history as well as the other amazing added content in the Collector’s Edition version.”
The World in Conflict Collector’s Edition will include:
• Authentic Piece of the Berlin Wall: An authentic piece of Cold War history, taken directly from remnants of the famed Berlin Wall that once divided Europe along the lines of Superpower control.
• “Modern Marvels©: The Berlin Wall” by The History Channel®: Learn the definitive tale of one of the most hated symbols of oppression in history and hear stories of those who braved the deadly No Man's Land between East and West.
• Behind the Scenes Videos – Explore the making of World in Conflict through extensive behind the scenes videos, showing development secret, gameplay tips and more.
• Creative Headset HS-390 – Call out commands to your teammates using the limited edition of the World in Conflict Headset HS-390 of Creative Labs. It provides a comfortable fit through lightweight design, slim neckband and cushioned earpads. Top-quality sound is ensured by a noise-cancelling microphone and gold-plated plugs.
• Limited Edition Collector’s Packaging: The Cold War battle rages on the collectible World in Conflict packaging, showing Soviet and USA flags facing off on opposing sides of the game box
Now that's a collector's edition. I wonder how big the piece of the wall is?

Hopefully it's a full brick, then I can buy two and have "another" brick from the wall.

Thats a pretty sweet idea for a collector's edition. I wonder how they managed to get that many pieces of the wall. Must have sucked to have been that Sierra intern, minus the trip to Germany.

Bundling headet = good idea. Voice communication will be very important in this game.

I have a piece that was given to me as a gift one year. It came with a certificate and a bag with the actual piece of the wall in it. My piece was about an inch cubed of concrete and there was a bit of graffiti on the corner of it. I must've got one of the end pieces. Pretty much like this one:

Cost? I didn't see any info on that.
Looks like a really good bundle.

I served in the US Army, Berlin Brigade, right when the wall fell. An interesting time to say the least. Right after the wall came down, street vendors all over Berlin set up tables with "authentic" bits of the wall for sale. Some were mounted to nice marble bases or wooden plaques, but they all had one thing in common; they were fakes. Real bits of the Berlin wall are made of a very powdery, loose, low quality concrete with rocks embedded in them. Real bits of the wall smell fairly bad (as they've been subjected to a few decades of industrial grime and wet weather) and are a dull off-white to gray color. Most parts of the wall do not have very colorful graffiti on them, whereas all the fake bits were freshly spraypainted with faux urban art.
I am lucky enough to have been able to take an army HMMV pioneer kit to the Berlin wall and break off a few pieces for myself and my family. It felt really great to dismantle a piece of the "iron curtain" personally.
At any rate, I wonder if the pieces included in this deal will be smelly bits of crappy cement, or pristine pieces of fakery?

Aww...I was hoping it would have an authentic used condom from a back-alley in Queens.

I was actually in DC this weekend and right next to where we were staying was a memorial with pieces of the Berlin Wall. Weird timing. I haven't even heard "Berlin Wall" in God knows how long, and it pops up twice in a week. Pretty random.

I hate walls. I remember when the villian The Wall kicked Spidey's ass while he was eating a hot dog and enjoying a ball game on the Electric Company.

This is getting the fantasy too close to reality for the sake of profit.

I want a russian tank. Then I could make bricks by running over a brick shithouse. If you're worried about it getting dirty I could cover the end with a plastic blow up doll.

the last SE that had a headset thrown in was the SE of Unreal Tournament 2004 ... I'm tempted to see what the quality is of that Creative headset once the box is in my hands ... But I am really really tempted to see how this comes out, as I'm going to Gamestop on Thursday to make my game reservations for the next two months.
the beta was really great, and i am normaly not an rts enthusiast because i think the rts genre is pretty dead (apart from few games like CoH) but WiC brings some fresh wind into the genre and is very polished imo

Pieces of the wall are a dime a dozen in Berlin. Fake or not, they're in every gift shop and usually really cheap. I can't say I was ever even a little tempted to buy one.
Me, I want a moon rock, fake or not.

I looked up the model number on Creative's site and got this (http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=437&subcategory=442&product=15882).
