The GGL Euro site ClanBase (http://clanbase.ggl.com/news.php) has announced the start of the first ever Wii ladder -- this one for Mario Strikers. Check it out: (http://www.ggl.com/index.php?controller=News&method=article&id=5195)
Despite having a completely gimped online functionality, the guys at ClanBase have already organized and begun the first ever competitive online Wii ladder. Using Mario Strikers Charged, competitors now have the chance to let their skills be known in the Wii arena -- a first of its kind.
Wii pro gaming? Is it a serious possibility?

I heard PAL gamers can't play NTSC gamers in this title.
Is this true?
Would piss me off a lot, because I have a US system living in a PAL territory, where all my friends have PAL systems.
I really can't understand any reason for a move like that, if it's the case, I can understand them wanting to keep the lag down, but shouldn't it be my choice if I want to put up with a little extra lag (or less in my case) so that I can play with friends of mine wherever in the globe they may be?
Two of my local friends who picked up the game however say it's a tonne of fun, and the cube version was a blast with no online multiplayer, so I'll be picking it up no matter what, but it really will be a shame if I can only play with other American owners (it also has me worried about any potential online mode in Smash Bros working similarly).

You can play your friends, it's just that the people you end up against in random matches are limited to your system.
It's still stupid, but it doesn't bother me much.

As I understand it, if you do ranked matches against random people, you will only be matched against people in your region. However, you can play against friends in your friends list even if they're not in your region.
And I believe that Mario Strikers: Charged has rankings in place already, so doing a ladder for it wouldn't be that difficult.

I don't know, how serious can you take a "sport" where you turn into a giant character and stop around the field?

I enjoyed this for the hour or so that I've put into it already. I can see this dying off rather quickly thanks to the friends code system. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Great idea though. Now they only need a PS3 ladder (unless there's a resistance ladder that I'm unaware of).

I don't see what is gimped about it. You have to add your friends individually. Then you play with them. You can play with random people with no friend codes (which are cross-game Mii codes).

Yes its true. Nobody can test it since no NTSC versions are out, but in the manual it very clearly states that NTSC cannot play PAL.

To answer your question, no.
Is there a reason why not?
